Unless your about to build a high reving beast then your stock pan will be fine. If I were you, I would just get a mild little cam to ad a bit of pep and talk to the motor and call it a day. The torque and power you will have form pretty much stock is going to be tons of fun. Save cash and put it towards something else.

That cam is a little bigger that the one in my Burb....it will be fine. You mught want to consider a small stall converter. A couple of things to watch for in doing a BB install is valve cover to firewall interference and fan to radiator clearance. FYI, I'm running a short pump and dual electric fans. Also keep in mind that the frames on the '63-'66 trucks isn't much different than the '67 to '87 frames. There are slight differences, but nothing major, so a lot of OEM parts can be used.

hi guys,
after a lot of thought, I have decided to not put the 468 in the truck. mainly because its almost ready to go in the nova, and also because gas is getting expensive and I want the truck to be an almost daily driver/parts runner. anyhow, Im planning to freshen up the 327 I have, bore it .060 over, put some .100 kb domes($200),bone stock 64cc vortec heads($600 for the pair, assembled), and a solid 250-256 cam in it($200). this should give me about 10.5-11:1 compression and Im hoping it makes about 320hp and 400ft lbs at the crank, and still be able to sip the gas when needed. should make for a fun grocery getter Last edited by CyanJaguar; 01-22-2008 at 05:22 PM. |

I hope your planning on running higher than 91 octain if your definet you'll be pushing close to 11cr. You might get small hints of detination if your air/fuel ration isnt right on.
