soft-top again

I emailed canback a few weeks ago to see what was up. I notice on their site that a top for a K5 was in the works. I sent an email to see if it was our years, but I got a plain jain response. I asked again emphasizing 69 - 72, but I got no response.

Oh ya the point. There is a store on ebay that says they have 100 in stock for a decent deal. Has anyone bought a top from them. Just wondering. I will pull the trigger within days. I am tired on waiting for a canback.

Re: soft-top again

Can Back has been saying that they have a top in the works for a first Gen Blazer for at least 6 years. I wouldn't count on them. At least one member got a straight up answer that they have no intentions of ever producing actually producing a top for a first gen.

Do you have a link to the ebay store with the tops?

Best top is the only company selling new tops for first gen blazers - if the are still selling them. Last year, they announced they would no longer be producing tops for first gens. If they are still selling them, $700 is a deal because it will cost you a lot more to get a custom made top.

FYI - I paid right around $670 for my STC Fastrac four years ago. Too bad they went out of business.

Re: soft-top again

I didn't think you needed snaps on the bed sides, but you did need to drill into the windshield frame and tailgate. I may be wrong, I have only seen pictures.

Re: soft-top again

There are a few different types. The good ones have a bracket that mounts to the bed rail with either snaps or a channel in it. I haven't seen any new ones that require holes drilled along the bed rail.

Here is the ebay store site (I think)
Linky

You'll have to search the store for a 72 blazer.

Re: soft-top again

Don't bother trying to order one from this guy. I got the email yesterday saying that they don't have any and can't get any. I will search on. They say they will eventually take the ad off of ebay. I guess the 98 they have are tops for anything.
