custom gauges?
I've been looking at gauges online, and it seems that you have two options- factory, or the 5 or 6 gauge aftermarket kit mounted onto a piece of aluminum. So I'm going to build something else. Does anyone have any experience with these "Aurora" gauges? You're supposed to be able to use custom faces and needles and such. They're relatively inexpensive on ebay. ??

I feel your frustration. For all the aftermarket gauge companies out there their really is not a lot of variety in styles. I was looking for some 1.5" round, or even square or rectangle gauges that I could mount in the dash where oil, fuel, amp, temp stock gauges sit. Of course, nobody makes square gauges, that would make to much sense. And the few companies that make 1.5" gauges either discontinued them or only sell cheap quality gauges in that size. I figure if OEM manufactures can make dozens of different gauge designs every year the aftermarket could get a little more creative.

This is what I was talking about. Those links are exactly what I was saying I've been leaning away from. Hopefully the link works! A 6- gauge kit is only $299 (5 is $250) straight from the maker- if you screw the trim rings on yourself.

 I'm with you Tomsriv. Sure there are some nice looking gauges out there, but very few show any real creativity, and those that do (I'm thinking Dakota Digital) just don't turn my crank. How about something that mounts from the back (not through) so the whole face is flush and flat? There just doesn't seem to be anything that is like current OEM stuff.I'll go digital when the whole gauge face (whole cluster) is an LCD screen that can be custom programmed to look like whatever you want. A guy I work with did this to his truck as an experiment using products we make at work, AND the gauges changed colour for day/night. Pretty neat, but I've never seen anything like it in the aftermarket. You Chevy guys have a nice sweeping speedo that I'd want to keep if my burb weren't a GMC. The GMC gauges are round and pretty plain.
