Re: this may be a stupid question!!

I hope you don't plan on driving the truck during the winter in Michigan without it. The round part to the right is the blower fan and the rest of the black part is the ducting for the system. The only real part you don't need is the silver part.

Only to you, my grandpa, and the rest of the old farts who hang around the feedstore in my town.

I, myself, will take air conditioning (even when i drive through TN -- it gets nasty there in the summer)

Re: this may be a stupid question!!

If you don't hang on to that blower motor, you'll be hating yourself when it's cold outside or if your windshield ever fogs up. You could replace the entire assembly with one from a non-A/C truck for a cleaner look.

Re: this may be a stupid question!!

Is TC Traverse City?
Illegal to run without a defroster. And not very smart to not have one in MI, makes it impossible to drive the truck Oct-April.

Could swap to a heater only. Will make it a lot easier to change the rear plugs on your BBC! Find a j-yard donor, there ought to be a ton of 'em in the nearest yard, get the controls, and eveything on both sides of the firewall, and the firewall patch if easy.

Re: this may be a stupid question!!

I know there is a company that makes an a/c delete heater box as they used to place ads on ebay but I can not find it. Basically the box uses the same bolt pattern as an a/c box but don't contain the a/c parts. It cleans up the firewall nicely and you don't have to weld patch panels.

I'll vouch for that. In the summertime here you can go from 0 to sweaty pretty dang quick.
