Before and After...the weekend.

I was thinking, there is usually a thread after the weekend asking what was accomplished. I think we should do a before and after weekend edition. So what do you WANT to get done? What do you THINK will get done? And on Monday...the sad reality of what you ACTUALLY got done.

Re: Before and After...the weekend.

I have a rather large list of what i want to get done...

1. go to pick and pull and get about 10 odds and ends that are missing or broken...and install
2. get my freaking blinkers working
3. Start some body work and prep for paint
4. clean and paint engine bay
5. replace valve cover seals, clean and paint valve covers
6. replace water pump
7. clean and paint air filter
8. replace drives side window motor (if i find one at P&P)
9. replace windshield (if i find one at P&P)
10. rattle can rear window frame
11. pound the dent out of my rear bumper
12. remove my front bumper, polish and clean it (leave it off for paint)
13. clean and polish tool box
14. not get dumped by my girlfriend for spending every waking hour with my truck and not her.

What i actually think will get done?
1. blinkers
2. pick and pull
3. clean engine bay
4. water pump
5. maybe one or to others if I'm lucky.

-Install a furnace in the garage
-Rust repair on the '87

-Rust repair on my other Geo
-Struts on the other Geo
-Exhaust on the other Geo
-Rust repair on the Buick
-Prep the '73 frame
-Shingle someone else's house

I think that is the list of things you THINK will get done, not the list of things you WANT to get done.

2. Go look a set of Pony wheels for the stang.
3. Get the stang out of the body shop.
4. Wash the 2 cars and the truck.
5. Meeting with my cook-off team to plan our next event.
6. Watch some of the Nascar race on Sunday with the beers.

Beers sound great, i will crack one for the board Saturday night.

Cook-off team? I didn't know it was a team sport, hell I didn't know it was a sport. I can make one heck of a grilled cheese, I guess that would put me in the busch league?

Re: Before and After...the weekend.

Beer is always on the to do list but here is what I want to do that requires some effort...

1) Pull and clean the 350/th400 from the van
2) Powerwash the underside of both the trucks
3) Dust off the lawnmower and trimmer
4) Sacrifice some meat to the grill gods
5) Clean the interior in the '80

I picked up a case this afternoon. Coors Lite. Anyone close to Gaston is welcome to help drink 'em...if you show up in a Bowtie Truck.

Oh, and I'd like to find out why my 30 wants to constantly downshift to 2nd over 40 MPH, what a gas waste! She also needs the speedo cable checked. No speedo sucks.

Re: Before and After...the weekend.

Cashed in a load of scrap. $50 and change for steel and $29 worth of cans and alum. Tore the trans apart on the 30. Valve body out, governor out, kickdown solenoid out...awaiting parts. Going to install new gov and solenoid, install B&M stage 1 shift improver kit. All parts on the way already. Can't get any of 'em local. If this don't help (along with some Lucas additive) I guess I'm yankin' a 400/NP205 Combo out. Doesn't sound like fun.

Re: Before and After...the weekend.

I got the van motor about 80% ready to pull. I ran into a snag with one of the header bolts, its an oddball size hex head snug to the front exhaust port on the drivers side and an absolute pain to get to and figrue out what size I need.

Re: Before and After...the weekend.

I picked up the Mustang from the body shop, also picked up more of my interior parts (be on the lookout for my interior install trhead coming soon).
Drank a few beers at my sister's with my bro-in-law while we tuned up my sister's truck. Sunday kicked back watched Nascar with more beers, meeting with the cook off team while the race was on.

Re: Before and After...the weekend.

washed the engine...Gunk is amazing, cut through the grease and grim like a knife. I still have cleaning and replacing to do, I sort of want to get rid of the garden hose. when i replace my valve gaskets, and carb i will clean the block a little better, then i will rewash the rest of the engine bay and rattle can it flat black.

Anyway...evidence that i did more than drink over the weekend.
