73 crossmember on a 1950

Somewhere (H.A.M.B.?) I read a article about using a 73-87 crossmember on the 1950 1/2 ton using only 1/2 inch spacers for frame fit.It seems it is wider but can be corrected with backspacing rims.
Anybody done this? I happen to have access to a free 77 1/2 ton 2wd that is just sitting.

Re: 73 crossmember on a 1950

Do you mean the rear end or the transmission crossmember?

Re: 73 crossmember on a 1950

track width is to wide. i have talked to a handful of people that have done this and wish they didn't. couple of them also did it to TF trucks and said they should have used a different clip.
