Drive shaft question tried search
OK how much slop should there be in the splined shaft under the carrier bearing ? 84 lwb 2 piece drive shaft. U-joints seem good no play, but considerable abount of play / slop at the male/female splined shaft, twisting it left and right by hand. Am getting a clunk clunk, when starting stopping plus a vibration between 40-55 mph.
Also whats in the tailshaft housing on my 700r4 tranny ? Just a housing and a seal ?

Re: Drive shaft question tried search
there shouldn't any play in that splined part of the drive shaft...a little (like just enough to notice it) is about the most play you want to have in it....as for the tailshaft housing it should be the tailshaft seal and it also should house the speed-o-meter gear
