Post 77 Chevy progress

Progress will be slow due to lack of truck funds currently, but here are a few pics.

Brought home (4/2):

After a little bleach and a deck brush (4/5):

Re: 77 Chevy progress

I've been wonderin how them buick ralleys would look on a c10. Not to shabby. Now I wonder how they would look on one thats lowered 5/8 or more...
Nice project btw, I dig the early 70's front-ends. What are your plans for it?

Looks like a great start for a project.
Just a bunch of TLC, And see what happens.
What is in the future of your new 77?

Re: 77 Chevy progress

I plan on restoring back to as much original as I can afford. If I find it will cost too much to 'restore' it. I will just make it look as good as I can with a good sanding and painting and get some new interior pieces and drop in a 350 4-bolt I am working on.

Re: 77 Chevy progress

You should be able to find complete used doors for fairly cheap to get rid of the rust. Was it sitting in a wet area? Never seen rust like that except back home in Iowa from the salt. Theres millions of trucks around here to get parts off of. Save up some money and you can restore it to great shape for not a whole lot of money. Looks like a striaght body and the bumper looks great.

Re: 77 Chevy progress

Your movin fast! Keep it goin, even when your out of money; there is always something to clean and paint. I did a complete body swap on my truck in the back yard(by myself), and I live in a city! The backyard has a privacy fence so the only people who saw it was the neighbors. Good luck. David

Post Re: 77 Chevy progress

Well, went to look at a truck today that the guy wanted $200 for the 350 4-bolt in it. Ended up bringing the whole truck home for $400.

The cab, doors, fenders and inner fenders are not all rusted out like on the '77. This project might turn into a 85 Silverado project instead. Plus, now, I have power locks, windows, brakes.

Re: 77 Chevy progress

Did some more tearing down. Looks like the rust is not as bad as I thought and I will just be putting in a few replacement panels to get this cab fixed up. (4/26 and 4/27)

Re: 77 Chevy progress

On a sidenote:

Started getting the '85 ready for the 350/THM350 install. Gonna use the radiator and shroud off the '77 for now. Gotta get a battery, rotor button, plugs and wires and hopefully I will have it running next weekend for a runabout while I work on the '77.

What do you want in the final product? Are you shooting for looks or functionality?

Gonna go for a nice look with a souped up 350 under the hood. Something to take to those Sonic showups and such just for kicks and a weekend driver when its nice.

Looking good. It is gonna be fun driving the 85 around with all the dents. Alotta people will look at it and share some stories.... Ask me how I know. I swear alot of people are more interested in a beat up truck then a show truck
