Adding power brakes to 1972 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I thought I could deal with the non-power brakes in my 72, but now that it's finished and I'm so used to power in everything else I drive, I just have to do the upgrade. All the braking components are fresh, but there is one problem.

-The proportioning valve right off the master leaks out the back a bit.

I guess that means I need a booster, a rod, a bracket and a prop. valve. The master cylinder is a brand new unit, and I assume they're all the same for power or non-power? I have a plugged vacuum port on the back of the carb that I can use for vacuum, so that's not an issue.

Which supplier can fix me up with all the parts I need to make this thing stop like it should, so I don't have to wear my leg out in heavy traffic?

Any of the BB vendors should have what you need.You might want to go with the 7 in booster to give you more room under the hood.Most come with an adjustable prop valve so if you want and original you need to specify.Maybe they can get it.You may also need longer brake lines to reach where the MC will be.

What does the adjustable Prop Valve look like? Did the non power breaks have them?
