Original Engine color...

What's the name of the color on this engine? And where can I find it? Also, where can I find the exhaust manifold dark grey coating?

Thanks all!

jc:

Eastwood (www.eastwood.com) has all the paint products and colors you will need to do an underhood detail, like the one shown in the photo. There are other products, sources and manufacturer's of these paints, but I have found Eastwood to be a good, one-stop shop.

By the way, thanks for the picture...that is an excellent example of a facotry-correct engine compartment of a 4-5-6 Chevy Truck.

I'm painting the 327 in my '64 grey.

Hey, that's my truck!! I built that '65 about 8 years ago and sold it in '05. I used Seymour's Cast Blast. It is a cast iron gray color. That's as close as I could find at the time. The original color has a little more blue tint to it.

Re: Original Engine color...

FYI, If you go to a paint shop they can match any color a lot better than they could just a few years ago. I took my door panel to a paint shop and they put it in their photo machine and mixed up a custom batch. It matches the old stuff perfect, I didn't have to repaint the whole interior thanks to the good match.

So, it took an old thread that was from April, but I finally found the guy who owned that '65. I have looked at a lot of trucks, and never really got to see yours in person, but let me say that was the nicest truck I have ever seen. It looked flawless from one end to the other!!

Re: Original Engine color...

I used Cast Blast on the engine and Eastwood's manifold paint on the exhaust manifolds.
