Wheel decisions - poll
Alright I'm having trouble deciding what wheels to get. What do you guys think. My truck will be black when it's done. I have it pretty much narrowed down to these 3. If you have another suggestion, post it...
The first wheel is the Boyd 2 Tone, Followed by the Intro Vista, then the Intro Vista II. Last edited by smashingchuck; 06-18-2008 at 10:15 AM. |

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
Oh yeah, I'm leaning twoards the Boyds because of the rounder center around the spokes and lug nuts, and it's just a real clean rim. I think the runner up in my book is the Intro Vista II.

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
I think if your truck is going to be black with some chrome trim (like around the cab or that trim that runs down the length of the truck) then the vista II would look cool cause it has that small strip running down the center of each spoke. The trim on the truck and the strip on the wheel would complement each other. If you're going to have no trim, I'd go with the vista's.
Are you under the impression that you pay for the boyds because of the name? I kind of am, but thats just me. And besides, arent all intro wheels forged, and not cast like boyds? I'd rather have forged wheels for strength, but thats just my .02 |

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
I think the Boyds are of good quality, and they are cheaper than the Intro's. Granted that the Intros are probably a little nicer... but I'd say they are comparable. Cost isn't really as important here as getting the right wheel.
The truck is shaved completely smooth - no trim. |

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
I like 2 but I will never buy a set of boyd wheels ever again. The finish on them is horrible, they just dont shine up like other brands.

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
that's good to know, although the dealer I'm buying them from has said (without me even asking) that the finish has been looking better on them since the moved the shop back to the original location. I will keep this in mind though... no sense in laying out this much cash and have a mediocre finish.

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
I will never buy another set of Coddington wheels again due to their customer sevrice and the finish of the wheel. The guys at INTRO are great and INTRO wheels are among some of the finest wheels made today. Also check into BILLET SPECIALTIES, BON SPEED, SCHOTT WHEELS, and BOZE. All of these companies are reputable and make remarkable wheels.

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
The shop I buy my wheels from hate Boyds due to poor fit and finish. I say go with the Intro's. I like the Vista II best.

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
my vote is for the Vista's. I had a set of Boyd's magneatos and the quality was dissapointing. Intros are sweet, and I think you can get them factory clear coated too?

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
wow... I'm really surprised at all the negative feedback on the Boyds. I had always "suspected" them to be not up to par, but didn't think they were that bad.
I'm thinking 60% Vista II and 40% Vista now.... Just found these.. what do you guys think? Hidden lug nuts... very cool, just have to get a quote from them. movie: http://www.schottwheels.com/cover-loc.cfm discussion: http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37343 Last edited by smashingchuck; 06-18-2008 at 10:15 AM. |

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
the Axiom are $775 per wheel (20's of course) The Velocity Are $975 per wheel. I think I'm going to stick to Intro's at this point. Last edited by smashingchuck; 05-07-2008 at 07:27 AM. |

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
The INTRO Vista fits you truck better than the rest.
It's established that the INTRO's have a nicer fit and finish, and the Vista fits your truck better due to the lack of anything protruding from the spokes. On the Vista II's there is a "trim" band down the middle of each spoke. If you're truck had the chrome trim still, or you are planning to air brush it on later, then these would be a better choice. Basically, because the Vista's have a "smoother" spoke, they will fit your truck better.

Re: Wheel decisions - poll
Not some big inch Pontiac Ralleys, but how 'bout something in the style like Muroc IIs (in 20s with light gunmetal inserts).

The Intros should look nice. But, if you like the look, maybe Intro will work with you. They carry a line that has a similar wheel, the HRS 2. I could throw another p'chop together with that particular wheel that has the centers gray'ed-out. (It should look similar to the p'chop in the above post.)

So, smashingchuck, do you think you went with the right wheel?
Either Vista should look good. With all of the mods, it looks like all your hard work will pay off in the end.

Re: Wheels decisions - poll
I actually like the Vista's on the second photoshop better than the "rallies" in the first.
