Getting ready for Paint - any suggestions?

In about 3 weeks, the truck will be going in for paint. Here's how it looks now. Some real beaut's here on the board. Maybe a 2 tone or graphics. I'm lookin' for suggestions.

Re: Getting ready for Paint - any suggestions?

I am a fan of original looking paint instead of graphics . I would consider a reversal of 8t3gmc's truck . White with red center . I would imagine the same color scheme would look good with the main color a silver or medium gray with a red center and factory chrome trim . My friend had a gray/red factory 84 and it was a neat color layout . Frank

Re: Getting ready for Paint - any suggestions?

How about a slightly stylized rendition of one of the Chevy Sport Truck, or Desert Fox paint schemes from the Mid-70's to early '80s?

There is a thread on here with a few pics: The best one is the red one from the canadian board member IMO

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=276397

That would be a little bit country, a little bit rock'n' roll

Use a paint that changes colors from different angles. It'd be sweet on that truck...

Being one that has chameleon paint in my flames, I am here to tell you that kind of paint is outstanding BUT if you do too much then you will not be pleased with it. There were some cars in the FORD line that was sold with the full body painted and the colors meld into a mess when it is the whole car. Use this type of paint as a enhancer for other mixes and it works real well. Also use it on a dark base to get the real effect of the colors in it. Do not paint it over a light base color.

Sunset Orange Metallic.... Just an idea, not sure where it comes from... The color comes from GM, the idea is the uncertainty. It looks like metallic rootbeer in the dark, like this in the daylight, and a bit darker on overcast days.

Re: Getting ready for Paint - any suggestions?

Wow!

Some great suggestions. Decisions, decisons...

I'm partial to red. Both of my 4x4's were / are red. One was a '86 K10 Blazer, the other, a '86 GMC Jimmy which I'm currently driving.

Of all the suggestions, I'm thinking of going with the Hot Rod Flat Blak and seal it with a dulled clear. I agree with randyjohn, it fits that truck, especially with the RAT in it.

Thanks for the help gang! Kenny
