2 Piece driveshaft 5" drop??
Has anyone dropped a shortbox 67-72 five inches or more with a two piece driveshaft? Does it affect the driveline angle enough to warrant changing to a one piece driveshaft? I'd like to keep the two piece set-up for now if possible.
thanks Pete |

Re: 2 Piece driveshaft 5" drop??
your actually ahead of the game if your dropping and you have a two piece driveshaft. I'm not sure if you will need to with a 5" drop, but I just relocated the mounting bracket for the carrier bearing to correct driveline angles for bags. I would install your drop and then determine from there if you need to change anything.
This is a good read related to your questions Last edited by jlaird; 05-17-2008 at 02:28 AM. |

Re: 2 Piece driveshaft 5" drop??
jlaird,
thanks for the feedback. We went ahead Saturday and installed the drop kit, (4" front, 5" rear), and there were actually no issues with the two piece driveshaft. No rubbing and no binding. So all is well for now. Bags are a very good possibility with this truck in the future so we'll probably have to perform the same mods as you did, when the time comes. Cheers, Pete |
