What size are the threads on a 3/8" sending unit?
Trying to re-plumb. I have 3/8 and 1/4 NPT fittings, neither works. I need some kind of adapter...
Should have mentioned, I'm talking about the fuel tank sending unit... Last edited by Jim_PA; 05-31-2008 at 01:28 AM. |

What is it going into? 3/8 NPT uses 1/2" threads.

Re: What size are the threads on a 3/8" sending unit?
Well, I have a 3/8 fuel sending unit, and I need something that will convert the female connection on the top of the sending unit to 1/4 or 3/8 Female NPT
I already have the 1/4 and 3/8 Male NPT fittings for my fuel line, but the connection at the carb and the connection at the sending unit needs some kind of adapter to work with my NPT fittings. I guess it will have to come down to a trip to the H/W store with my sending unit and fittings in hand Last edited by Jim_PA; 05-31-2008 at 05:22 PM. |

Re: What size are the threads on a 3/8" sending unit?
The fitting on the carburetor is probably an "inverted flare", like on brake lines. IIRC the threads are 3/8-24, same as regular "fine" thread.
Is this what you are looking for? http://www.fittingsandadapters.com/femcon1.html Or the "male" version? http://velvac.thomasnet.com/viewitem...267?&forward=1 Last edited by LONGHAIR; 05-31-2008 at 05:40 PM. |

I think you need flare fittings not NPT.... LockDoc

Re: What size are the threads on a 3/8" sending unit?
I got aeroquip socketless hose, and the only fittings available are AN or 1/4 & 3/8 NPT.
So, I need to get a 3/8 inverted flare male to 1/4 (or 3/8) NPT female adapter. Thanks all! - |
