From the factory they used a power assist hydraulic cylinder. Like the one on the Tan/Brown 66 GMC in this album http://community.webshots.com/album/12517073DagcqJDBHf
Or you can add a newer saginaw p/s box with a $60 kit from REZ http://www.classicperform.com/power6066.htm For power steering pump brackets it will depend on what motor you run. SBC and BBC V8's are easy to find brackets for but the old GMC V6 and some Chevy I-6 motors are not so easy.

a P/S box from a 67-87 chevrolet should bolt right up, though you may have to add a spacer or somethin between the box and the frame I'll take a look at my girlfreinds 63 and I'll let you know, just so you have some options.

Turbo,
I installed power steering on my '64 C10 last spring. It is not a bolt on, but it is easy. I did it in about 2 hours. Just go to a salvage yard and get a power steering unit off a chevy pickup. (In '85 GM swapped from standard threads to metric so to be safe, get both the box and the pump off the same truck.) You have to make a bracked (easy) and use some washer for spacers. I retained my stock steering column. Let me know if you wish more details. Shorty |

Shorty's rigging is ver similar to what my girls dad did to her truck for P/S, and he used the same column. I need to get pics, but she is out of town right now...damn.
