another 68
Well it aint much but I got another one. I think with a little sanding and primer it will be ok. I have dropped the old 305 that came from my other 68 in it and it will be for sale soon. I dont have a key so I need suggestions how to swap out the ignition switch lock cylinder.
. . .

Re: another 68
Take the passenger side door lock out. It should have a number & letter combination stamped on it (see Pic). That will be the code number for the locks. Take the lock to a locksmith and he will cut a key from that code number. The new key will fit the ignition if none of the locks have been changed.
Hardware stores and home centers won't be able to do this you will have to take it to a full time locksmith. If you can't find any locksmiths in your area and want to PM me the code number and your address I will cut two keys and mail them to you for 5 bucks. LockDoc

Re: another 68
LockDoc - thanks for the great offer but I am afraid the ignition may have been changed. There was an extra lock cylinder under the seat. Thanks again anyway.

Re: another 68
You could alaways pick the lock... I have done it with the cylnder out with a paper clip... Hard to do... Or maybe a locksmith can get it out. If you just unscrew the bezel you will mess it up. The lock is just too big to not clear the bezel. So you have to strip it out to get the bezel off. Then buy a new one so it could be worth the money to get a lock smith... Just my $.02
