Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

Does anybody else remember when these wheels were on what seemed like every street truck? I bought them for my daily driver (in 1999) and kept them for my trailer or whatever... The other day, I stuck them on the 84 just to see what it would look like... Any thoughts?

I like those too nico. But I really like the stance that your offset gives with these cragers! which begs the question whether or not 17 with an offset would look good?

Re: Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

I agree... The 17x8's all around look way too narrow on the back. If I was actually going with 17's all the time, they would have to be at least 1.5" wider in the back with the same offset.

To me the back Cragars look just about right, while the fronts are too narrow and need more sidewall. I'm sure I have some pics with 15x8 Rallye's somewhere also.

Re: Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

Rear - I was thinking bigger lip on the 17s, but not sticking out! maybe 17x9/10 with some meats

F- 17x7/8 with low profile tires to bring the front back down.

There is a truck that I found, i think it was 67 that had the wide backs and pizza cutter fronts that got the ball rolling for me. I will work on some pictures

Nico what are the tire sizes on the 17s??

Re: Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

What do you think of this thing. This has got to be one of my favorite stance/wheel combos ever.

Quote:
Rick lowered the front of his '67 by himself using AIM Industries 2-inch dropped spindles and tubular A-arms modified to accept Firestone 2600 airbags. The rear was lowered with hand-fabricated, adjustable trailing arms fitted to two more Firestone 2600 'bags. The rear framerail was C-notched, and Chisholm shocks were mounted at all four corners. Rick completed his rolling chassis by installing a big/little combo of Billet Specialties rims and BFGoodrich rubber. Up front, Billet Specialties 17x7-inch Vision wheels were wrapped with BFGoodrich LT245/50R17 radials. In back, a larger set of 17x13-inch Visions were fitted with LT345/55R17 BFGs.

Real nice, but a bit too much rake for my taste.

Yeah those wild looking billet wheels were the craze of the 90's, kind of how 20+ inch wheels are the hot thing now.

Re: Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

That's a beautiful '67!

I agree with the 17x8's looking a little too narrow in the back. I have a set of 17x8's that I ran on my '83 that I'm going to run on my '73... I eventually want to go with 15x8's on that. Anyhow, I used to have a '93 with 2/4 drop and I ran 17x8's in the front with 255/45r17's and in the rear it had 17x9.5's with 275/40's. It was a good combo... I think it would work for a square body too...

Re: Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

That's what I would like to find for this 84... 17x8 fronts and 17x9.5 back, but they have got to be cheap... This truck has a think for only getting left-overs and hand-me-downs.

Re: Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

Wheels looks like one of Billet Specialties early version of their billet wheels. They got them in twenties now. Who would of thought what Lil' John started with the first set of billets would come to this.

Yeah, blk81shrt, that blue one is really nice. I'm not sure of the offset, but he is running 17s with 245/45s up front and 275/50s out back. Sometimes 17s look like 15s. Forgive the cone...

Re: Anybody remember these wheels? 1999?

Nice, thanks boxrodz! Is that a members truck?? Looks like a 4/6 drop maybe? Those rims look like centerlines, I think I saw them on their website. Anyone know the name of em?

Thanks again nico for getting those pics up for me!

blk81shrt -

No problem.

I don't believe he is a member here.

I don't remember his setup. I'd have to check. But, it looks more like a straight drop given the rake rather than a staggered drop which would level it out a bit.

He's running Billet Specialties Vintec Dishes. (I'd like to see more dish offerings.)

He did a really good job on that truck.

That is a Ultra wheel or Eagle alloys wheel, I don't think they make them any more, but I remember them back in the day...
