Spent most of the weekend cleaning my side trim but it still looks cloudy so I may take it to a metal polisher.

Re: 7/13 edition what did you get done?

I spent the weekend on the road. my first stop was in Corpus Christi on Friday for my state assocations trade show. I spent the day there testing new video games and checking the local scenery.

Saturday I left Corpus and headed South toward the border. We took a left across Laguna Madre and stopped on South Padre Island. We spent the last two days relaxing on the white sand of Padre beach.

Tomorrow it's a six hour drive home and back to reality.

My view at Corpus Christi-

Big waves at South Padre. Unfortunately they weren't this big when we were there-

Dinner at Louies Backyard grill-

This was taken from the deck at Louie's as the sun set over Laguna Madre-

And here is a fuzzy cell phone pic as we are leaving-

Saturday I cleaned up the yard and hauled off some scrap iron. Sunday, I bought another truck from craigslist and rebuilt my tbi for my crew cab.
Too many projects, never enough time.....

Re: 7/13 edition what did you get done?

Spent the day making "swiss cheese" of my bed floor. I needed to cut the holes for the huge axle notch, the driveshaft notch, upper 4 link bars and the fill neck for the fuel cell. I think I destroyed most of the crossmembers under the floor,... and still may not be done. These pics were taken with the axle 3" off the notch. So it will go lower! Gotta love the rear Dropmember. Now it's time to blow it apart for paint.

Re: 7/13 edition what did you get done?

I picked up an Edelbrock Performer 750cfm carb and installed it on the 454. Runs way better than the tired old Q-Jet I had on there. Idles like a dream, smooth with no surging. Some day I will send the Q-jet off to get reworked, but for now I need to get this truck drivable. I would really like to give up the storage unit I've been using as a shop at the end of this month.

The truck ran so good I decided to take the plunge and drive about a mile down to the convenience store and back. Luckily I didn't see any cops 'cause the inspection and registration are both expired.

Next on the list is a set of new tires. These have flat spots and dry rot from sitting so long. I've got a set of Impala SS rims I may use, or maybe just go with some rallys.

Spent the week "up north" with the family. Returned this weekend, only to leave again for another week (for work). Here is a pic of my daughter taken on our vacation, now 8 months old already.

Re: 7/13 edition what did you get done?

texassquarebodies,... Nate has had the 73-87 version of the rear Dropmember done for a while now. I think the 67-72 version is about ready for production. All Nates products are heavy duty and high quality. But,... he makes it look easy in his threads.
Jeff,... great pic of your daughter!

Finally got around to installing the ’41 Chevrolet taillights. Also swapped out my passenger door for one that is a “10” and wired up the power windows on both sides.

Re: 7/13 edition what did you get done?

I went to the GoodGuys show @ Columbus Ohio this week. We left @ 05:00 Wed morning & drove to Kentucky for the night; then got up & finished the trip to Columbus on Thurs morning.

The trip was great. My buddies each brought their kids & they're two of the best behaved young adults (13 & 18.... barely) I've ever been around. I'm glad to see them being involved in their dad's interests/hobbies (I never had anything like that w/my parents so it means a great deal to me especially).

We typically experience some sort of extreme issue but the trip was un-eventful. No flats. No mechanical issues w/the exception of a lug nut that was loose & fell off. We did learn not to use a brand new aluminum trailer (w/o any isulation barrier) w/a freshly completed vehicle (think giant alum toaster oven ).

Lots of cars, trucks, & people. Met board member c10addict & finally got to see how nice his truck was in person (super nice guy too). ALOT of driving (17hr road trip each way)..... but it was worth it.

The trip back was both cool..... and not so cool . N2Billets son (Trey) & I co-piloted a very nice 61 Buick Bubble-top back to DFW from Ohio. N2B is the 'broker' for the sale of the car & we helped transport it safely to TX where it will find its next owner. Big wheels, 4-whl air-ride, & C5 PBR brakes up front. The a/c worked; but because of a belt tension issue taxing the accessories, we elected to turn it off & toughed it out for 17 straight hours of driving. That's right..... this car was picked up on Sat afternoon & then driven the entire way back to DFW on Sunday stopping only for fuel. The final calculations are still out, but our collective number crunching @ the pumps indicated about 15+mpgs! Factory engine & 2spd auto trans . . .... it ran pretty decent for being 47yrs old. Trey (who turned 18 during our 17hr trip ) did a fine job on the road & learned from the experience (he asked questions & didn't complain ) . . ..... Scot.

Re: 7/13 edition what did you get done?

She is Very Cute, Jeff. They do grow up fast. Elizabeth is almost 18 months now.

Sweet Bubble top pics Scoti. 15mpg is pretty good too!

All I did was clean up the garage on Saturday so I can get back to work on some pending projects. I am redesigning the standard kick panels we sell so they will clear the parking brake without modification.

Re: 7/13 edition what did you get done?

replaced th350 tranny in my 85, swapped out the wore out carter carb with a holley, new plugs and wires, got everything adjusted right carb and timing wise and ready to go and then the water neck housing gasket started leaking and the the oil pan started leaking where the oil pan and timing cover come together.

looks like i'll be working on that through out this week to get those things buttond up.

Installed some Chrome goodies on the lowrider. Still have to install the DD Instrument cluster this week.

Still putting my air mgmt system together to install in the lowrider. Got front bags, brackets and air tank from Suicide Doors which is just right up the road about 30 minutes. Still need valves, air line, compressor, etc... before I can install them.
