I dont think i am the only one this has happend to so I would like to know how u did it. The glove box in my 81 has broken off from the little plasic tab that bolts to the sheetmetal, I would like to fix it some how but will probably order a new liner. So let me know if you fixed yours, or if u have a liner somewhere and would like to get rid of it. Thanks

There really is no fix other than a new liner. Fortunately, they're only about $30. I found out mine was bad because I was getting a rattle out of the door. Upon closer inspection, about 4" of the "hinge" had broken and was just flopping in the wind. The suckiest part of the job is getting the lock/cylinder removed and replaced. I fiddled with that thing for almost 30 minutes getting that out.

you can find them on ebay for hella cheap, most ppl are selling the full assemblies (cover plate and all). I picked one up for 20 bux with shipping for my 83.

there is no fix that works.. if youtry to put some kind of hinge there there is nothing to screw it to and dict tape wont work so replacement is the only option... GM called t engineered obsolencence

I've fixed a few. Some where it mattered, I did real nice. The only one I have here now I fixed in a hurry on a work truck. I attach a piece of latigo to the box. On this one I just rivited it to the remaining edge of the box. On some, I have glued the leather for a nice clean repair. Then I just drill the mounting holes in the leather with the attachment screws. Never had one break after repaired.
