Re: 1970 Sierra Grande
Yeah,I`m talking about GMC starting with the Sierra Grande in `70 and not `71 like Chevy with the Cheyenne Supers.I know we have found proof with other examples, but I only recall actually seeing one truck shown and the rest were kinda maybes. This one appears bonafide.I don`t know,as an avid fanatic on these trucks I find it interesting to find such oddities.I consider it an oddity because I have rarely seen one and am sure that`s true for all here.If anyone has other pictures, please post.I also like unusual combos. This one has the dark olive w/medium olive accent color,is a`70 Sierra Grande, and has the Custom Camper option w/nameplate.This is one fine example of the trucks I truly love and seem to never be jaded on.It ain`t no slammed shortbed or jacked up 4wd.It`s just one fine example of a super classy 3/4t truck.
Did anyone notice that leaf springs are listed as an option?I find that interesting.

Re: 1970 Sierra Grande
acording to my GMC papers, it was a mid year intro, and the badges were an issue. Most were built without the badges, and when sold, the dealer was to call the owner once badges showed up, and the dealer would then install them. But the dealer was only to install them if the option package was listed on the SPID.

Re: 1970 Sierra Grande
i guess i missed the first discussion but if it helps, i owned a 70 sierra grande, 1/2 ton lwb, big block, bucket seats, a-c, etc. and it was all on the SPID. I've had people argue about cheyenne super stepsides, saying chevy never built them. i've seen several documented super stepsides but it seems a lot of people don't believe they were built just because they haven't seen one or never really paid attention.

Re: 1970 Sierra Grande
What is the definition of a "true survivor". It is becoming as much over used as an "all original". The wheels, caps, windshield moulding, mirrors, intake manifold, air filter and rear bumper didn't survive.

Re: 1970 Sierra Grande
I had a K2500 years ago that was a sierra grande 4 speed tilt/ bucket seat truck but was beaten up pretty bad I could have sworn it was a 69 but it could have been a 70 I know it had the rockwell transfer case and drum brakes.I wish I had taken more pictures back then

Re: 1970 Sierra Grande
Me too.I think I had a neighbor that moved here from Missouri that had a`70 Sierra Grande in Dark Olive, back around 84/85.It was a family owned "unmolested original survivor".I think of a survivor as an unrestored/still in operating condition vehicle.I guess it would be fair to say not altered to where it couldn`t be retuerned to original, too. But,mostly just a vehicle that has "survived".
