Fly by wire gas pedal mount - 65C10

Hey guys,

I am putting a fly by wire engine in my 65C10. Here is one way to convert while keeping the stock gas pedal.

Re: Fly by wire gas pedal mount - 65C10

I saw something interesting a couple weeks ago, a friend of mine who is a street rod builder put a late model hemi with dbw in an old Chrysler I think it was late four ties early fifties. he took the pedal and cut the foot part off and made a Bracket to mount it on the intake. The part that would mount to the fire wall was mounted to the bracket so the foot pedal part would stick up towards the hood this bracket assembly was probably two to three inches from the fire wall. He then used lo kar style pedal which was mounted regularly on the fire wall and ran the cable through the fire wall and attached it to the stubby part of the pedal that was left over from the part that was trimmed off. I hope you can under stand this I will try to get pictures later it was real clean install and used a cable pedal to actuate.

Very nice work, like how your keeping the original pedal look! I thought about going that Route but decided to convert engine to drive by cable instead.

Re: Fly by wire gas pedal mount - 65C10

Thanks men,

I guess I should tell the rest of the story. When I tried to start the engine I got the "I ain't going to run the engine with this pedal" code from the computer. So I had to get a different style pedal. I could still use the same mount, just a new set of mounting holes in the plate and a new rod to adapt to the stock pedal.

Re: Fly by wire gas pedal mount - 65C10

Yeah, that's a bummer about the pedal. You pretty much need the matched set from the same vehicle that the ECM came from. At least same year/model/etc...
Doing work twice sure sucks. I know all about that

Re: Fly by wire gas pedal mount - 65C10

So I did this on a 5.3 DBW last year and it screwed up the sensors in the pedal. It would be at full throttle at half pedal because of messing with the geometry of the pedal and the position sensors on it. Said I would never cut one again..........
