Little bech racing :)

Last time out, this is what my best pass looked like:

60' - 1.669
330 ' - 4.619
1/8 et - 7.114
1/8 mph - 96.178
1000' - 9.343
1/4 et - 11.282
1/4 mph - 115.322

On this pass I:

1) Did not spray till the 60' due to it spining a little even on motor once it maxed the front suspension travel (would spin 3-5' out)
2) Only got to use the first 100 hit not all 300
3) Short shifted 2-3 trying to grab the second stage but it poped a fuse.
4) Had 3.73's with a 30" tall tire
5) Weighed 3,900lbs with a half tank of gas

This time out the changes should be:

1) 4.56's
2) Droping 125-200lbs
3) Should have a better handle on the hook so I can spray it out of the hole with the 100 shot

With that being said, what do you think the truck can do on:

1st stage
2nd stage

What do you think spraying out of the hole is worth?
Gears?
Weight?

Re: Little bech racing :)

When you say droping 125-200 lbs you raking that out or are you throwing some sand bags in the bed?

4.56 is a pretty low Gear ratio you might want to go to a larger tire/Wider tire. for this 100+ hp launch.

What kinda Powertrain set up are you usingin between the Foggers and the Rubbers?

When I say dropping weight, it means, doing what is needed to get this pig to a lean truck Like, building a new front cross member, getting rid of the bend seat, taking the tow hitch off that I once put on, getting rid of the brake booster and running manual brakes, swaping my light tailgate in and taking the one I added 100lbs to off. Might be putting a glass hood or even a full glass front end on in the next 6mo to year..

I think the 30x14.50 ET street I'm running is up to the task.. Or even the 315/60/15 I plan on putting on (same size tire)

Running gear is a 347ci forged internal LS1 backed with a 4L80E and 12 bolt. It makes 430 to the wheels with the converter locked with no N20.

Heck, if it hooks on the 100 shot out of the hole, I might even try the 200 hit out of the hole and come on the full 300 at the 60' mark

Re: Little bech racing :)

Shaving weight or changing your bias is going to help . I also fight the traction problem caused by front suspension limits . Mine will either hit the bump stops and gently spin for a little bit or carry the fronts and hook hard .

I looked at your front crossmember . Maybe i didn't see it very well , but it almost looks like it needs a little more triangulation to it . No disrespect is meant by this at all . It just looks like it is hanging there . Maybe some smaller tubing braces from it to the frame . May have just been the picture angle .

If you deck it with 200 at the hit . Keep an eye on the driverside axle shaft . It is the one being driven into the ground . If you can shave the 60' times with the spray you'll be surprised . I was told by a long time bracket racer , that every tenth off the 60' = 2 tenths on the big end . It is MPHing alot faster than your ET . I come up with 11.81 based on your MPH . And around 467 RWHP on motor, based on your #'s It should run a 10.75 @ around 126 with 300 worth of dope . If you can plant it . Just my guess . Keep us posted .

Re: Little bech racing :)

I'll get better pics of the cross member up in a coupld days.. It's tied in pretty well..

As far as ET.. I was thinking 10.75-10.85 might be the 100hit. I mean, It was going 11.968 on the motor with 428rwhp locked (389 unlocked). Again spinning 3-5 feet out to a 1.678 60' and trapping at 113.219. Here is the motor pass..

60' - 1.669
330 ' - 4.619
1/8 et - 7.114
1/8 mph - 96.178
1000' - 9.343
1/4 et - 11.282
1/4 mph - 115.322

So this is the difference:
60' - .009
330 ' - .237
1/8 et - .466
1/8 mph - 6.443
1000' - .606
1/4 et - .686
1/4 mph - 2.103

60' is pretty much the same..
1/8mph is up almost 6.5mph yet 1/4mph is only up 2.1mph.. On the motor I was picking up 23mp on the back half wher eon the bottle I only picked up 19mph.. The shift light didn't even come on for the 2-3 shift and I think I had it set at 6,300.. That short shift really killed mph.. My thinking is on the 100hit, spraying out of the hole and not short shifting, that 11.282 probably would have been an 11.0x-11.1x.. Am I way off base here?

So assuming that was an 11.0x-11.1x pass, Gears should be worth at least .05, weight should be worth pretty close to .1 and getting it to work better out of the hole should be worth .05.. So that 11.0-11.1x would be closer to 10.8x-10.9x..

Again, am I way off base here?

Re: Little bech racing :)

What im saying is if you can get it to hook , on the hit with a 100/150 shot 10's are in . I don't know alot about these "new" motors so forgive me on the rpms . I know mine makes killer torque when short shifted with a tight converter and was faster . Man , once this stuff gets in your blood it won't go away . My first pass was @14 years old .

Re: Little bech racing :)

Have you tried spraying it out of the hole? Mine always hooked better the more power I left with. I could spin on the motor and hook perfect spraying it.

No more dragtruck for me. I'm building a new ride though. It's a '71 fleetside, 400 sbc, 700R4. Working on it now, finally. Soon to have Edelbrock Pro Flo EFI, Vintage Air, 1 piece windows, buddy buckets, etc.

My new build thread:

Best pass with the old dragtruck:
5.32 @ 131.6 mph 1/8 mile w/ a 1.25 60' Fogger/Plate 2003

Best pass with the street 406 hydraulic roller motor w/ mild plate tuneup
5.93 @ 114 mph 1/8 mile w/ a 1.29 60' 2003 or 2004
