Re: tonneau covers?

I was assuming when he mentioned a tonneau cover he was referring to the black vynal or canvas ones that were popular a few years back... these new things are fiberglass and frankly i feel they kinda ruin the purpose of having a pickup if you use it for work or for hauling.... the only reason i had one on there was in my city / state until 2000 it was illegal to have a pickup truck registered as a passenger vehicle and have the bed uncovered. I hated the truck with a cap on it so the tonneau cover was easy enough to unsnap and roll up when hauling stuff

Re: tonneau covers?

that being said anyplace that sells caps or camper shells ( depending on what you call them things in your neck of the woods) sells them and they are custom made for your truck... older applications like our trucks are a bit harder to find but they are out there.. you may wanna check out the sites of Leer and A.R.E. as they make the caps up here in the northeast

Re: tonneau covers?

I have a hard fiberglass tonneau on my 84 truck and a a soft vinyl tonneau on my my DD truck and my son's 86 chevy truck. All are SWB trucks. They really make a difference in the daily use.

I have one on my truck and I love it. its a lite rider roll up cover. You still have your truck and the looks with the ablity to use the whole bed.

Here are some crapy pics.

Re: tonneau covers?

I have one of these on my S10. They make them for full size trucks as well, and they're paintable.

Re: tonneau covers?

Give me a day or so. I'll post a video of my tonneau cover. The video shows air flow at 70 MPH. Tonneau covers work!!

Re: tonneau covers?

gchemist does your truck have a rev limiter at 70? whats your obsession with that speed? lol, anywyas back to the point i would like to get one of those flush looking ones that roll up kind of like the one on 8t3gmc's truck but it's flush with the bed sides.

Re: tonneau covers?

It has a rev limiter at 70 for MPG!! If I drive it I want to get there fast and still afford fuel.

Yea I like the bed flush mount. I think it uses velcro!! How easy is it for it to fly off!!

Re: tonneau covers?

The one on my DD truck has the aluminum rails and the snaps (Extang Platinum Classic). That way if I am using the bed, the aluminum rails protects the bedside toprails and I have received no damage there.

Re: tonneau covers?

anyone have pictures of a flush mount tonneau covers on their trucks, please post some pics with the make and model. I kind of like the truxedo and i think its kind of low profile also.
