C'mon guys step up to the plate :

OKAY....maybe some of you guys don't go to the other forums here. I usually don't. But..by accident..I clicked on the wrong forum and ended up in the 67-72 chevy one.

Started to read a post about an Ebay listing....if you haven't read this post...grab a box of kleenex read the posts from the beginning...and then step up to the plate and help out.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=298883

Let's show them the 60-66 guys-n-gals can step up to the plate !

I'll leave it at that..... go read it ..and jump on board !

Re: C'mon guys step up to the plate :

The original Ebay ad was for four trucks and a whole load of parts. If you read the whole post ( I know that's a lot !) you will see that there was even more than she first posted.

The new Ebay sale is a fund raiser for her. You buy a picture of one of the trucks. But 100% of the donations go to her. They are now talking about a big yard sale to sell off the parts. Wish I was close to Tennessee.

I think you missed the point. I was hoping that the original post would be read with all the subsequent posts to see how this thing has taken off.

The Ebay listing started it. The way the guys on the 67-72 forum have stepped up to the plate and is helping this widow, whose love for those Chevy trucks was derived from her husband's passion for Chevy trucks. They have one in the garage that the goal is to restore in her husband's memory.

This is a total random act of kindness. The "picture selling" on Ebay now is a fundraiser. Chevy and GMC owners from all over have, and still are, stepping up to "buy" a photo for $10.00. The funny thing is that you don't even get the photo mailed to you. It's already embedded in the post early on. You want it , you click on it and save it.

Heck.. I bought two of the same photo Never felt better about a purchase.

I was hoping a bunch of the guys n gals on this forum might consider doing the same thing. You really gotta read the thread. Last count it was at 8,897 views.

Ebay link here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220275273973

I challenge the GMC owners to out purchase the Chevy owners on the pictures.

C'mon guys the right thing will only cost you $10.00...or more if you want...

#2 But hey..it's a close second !

Re: C'mon guys step up to the plate :

Gee I ask for a measly $5 for the MS society bike ride I was going to do and all I got was hardship stories. I was going to ride my bike two days at 75 miles a day for Multiple Sclerosis on Sept 13th and 14th, And basically got nothing and when a woman wants to restore an old truck she gets all that. Poor kids that have this in their lives really want to hear about this. Oh yeah. I did manage to raise a whopping $30 but that was from another forum. This forum couldn't step up to that plate. Maybe they will climb aboard again when I do the Diabetes 100 mile ride. I did get some support for that one. Two or three members out of how many thousands.

Sorry it just burns me up sometimes when I do this and no one I know has this. Diabetes is a differnt story though. I know people with it and I am sure most everyone dose know someone with it. I personally don't have this problem. Ok I feel better now.

Have you checked your link ? I just clicked on it ( again). I remember clicking n it a while back and it didn't work then either.

Make it easier to navigate with a little more info and there might be more support. Just a thought. My mother passed away last February and she had Diabetes. I would be supportive, but the link doesn't seem to work for me.

Re: C'mon guys step up to the plate :

i need to take that out. It is an old link. The diabetes ride in in May. That is an old link from last year. I rode a 100 miles for that cause. I have given up on the MS ride because I don't have enough money. Needed $350 to participate and I have $30. If I can raise $320 I can ride it. http://main.nationalmssociety.org/si...nal&fr_id=9066

Re: C'mon guys step up to the plate :

the whole point of this thread is wasted on me.
how many thousands of car lovers die on a regular basis....what is it about this widow that everyone should jump to help her???

Compassion for another human being who is down on her luck financially, and has the same interests as we do?

Sure never expected hostility from this.

Maybe because this one just happened to show up here, right place, right time. The fact that once she realize some guys on this forum were trying to help, she was even willing to "donate" the trucks to the forum if "we" wanted them.

Sometimes, the act of helping one, multiplies many times over. "Passing it forward" .

Personally, I hope your comment was based on your not reading the thread all the way through.

Sometimes, the right thing to do, when to do it, why to do it, just falls into the category of "just do it".

Sure your not a Ford Truck owner ?

i'm not hostile, guess i just didn't realize there was a "blindly follow and don't ask questions clause"
maybe I came off as an ass....wasn't my intention
