Re: Running from ike

I am down here right on the coast as well. The whole county is under a MANDATORY evacuation and everyone must be gone by tommorrow morning by 8:00 AM (Thursday). Unfortunately for me I work in Freeport and my boss needs me to work tommorrow night. So I wont be able to evacuate or start securing my property until 7:00 AM Friday morning. The storm should be hitting very early Saturday morning.

Well it looks like you are going to luck out. It is turning and going to head right up to me I have to get up early and start boarding stuff up and try to secure the shed that I just put up to the ground.

Here in the Heart of Arkansas, we had Gustav for three days. Rained out the wazoo, trees blown over, homes flooded, power out for days.

What calm?

For those who live along the coasts of the Gulf, including my daughter in FL., I envy you as long as the weather is nice. I love the water, the breezes. What I wouldn't like would be the way that you have to pay and pay and pay for that privilege...insurance; rebuilding; loss of property; lack of coverage; Y3.

My daughter pays in three months for her home insurance, what the wife and I pay for a year....and we have three times the house they do.
I realize Gustav was no picnic and wreaked havoc on you guys inland. But,the storm was slated to intensify in the gulf and did the opposite and downsized. It was heading to be another Katrina on New Orleans and didn`t.No big hurricane disaster as predicted. That`s what I`m hoping for with Ike.If this storm could calm to a tropical storm,is the most we can hope for.
God Bless all in Ike`s path.

Texas Prepares for Ike

Date: Mon, 08 Sept 2008

With the impending threat of Hurricane Ike, the Governor of Louisiana is considering a mandatory evacuation of NewOrleans and the surrounding areas.

In response to this possibility the Governor of Texas has ordered the demolition of all bridges between the two states. Texas figured it would be cheaper to rebuild the bridges.

Amen

Re: Texas Prepares for Ike (merged)

To find Bill go north to I-40 then west to I-35 and turn south. Directions for leftover Katrina hoodlums and freeloaders are even simpler ..Take I-45 North and turn west on 287 and the north on I-35.
