Re: Keep a good thought....
hmmm house is insured?....could you put it in the house too?
hope it misses you , or fizzles out before it gets there. I was in charlotte one year, when a 'cane went through atlanta.. we just got the very edge of it, but it was some pretty crazy weather. |

Re: Keep a good thought....
Quick, dig a hole and put your truck in it and bury it. Will you evacuate, if so can you put it on or in a trailer and take it with you? If it's like mine there aren't enough cardboard boxes to move mine in. Good luck and hang on.

Re: Keep a good thought....
Yep, here it comes. Looks like it will blow out of here pretty quick. I'm happy about that part since I've been flooded three times, I don't want any more of that. Spending today putting the truck back together unfinished in case I need it for transportation after the storm. Tomorrow will be spent picking up things inside the house and putting them up higher. Oddly enought the first time I was flooded was on 9-11-1998, ten years ago today. That was a slow moving tropical storm, they're the worst as far as rainfall goes. Had my own little 9-11 three years in advance.

Re: Keep a good thought....
Thanks, got the front end all back together, just need to put the hood on. I'll need some help with that. All in all it took allot less time and effort than I expected.

Re: Keep a good thought....
Hope you made it through Ok, I see you haven't posted since the storm so I figure you don't have power yet either. Hope you didn't get flooded, I almost did.....again. I still don't have any power so I'm using a generator to check in with the outside world. Thank God for the cool front that brought amazing weather. My neighbor's power all came back on, the linemen missed a detached transformer tap (caused by the idiiot tree trimmers that they use here); two other houses and mine don't have power, everyone else does. Now we have to wait another week to get it fixed. Allot of limbs down at my house, but uprooted trees are common throughout town. Could have been allot worse though (I could have got flooded again . God bless and I hope you (and everyone else affected by Ike) are ok.

Re: Keep a good thought....
I was relieved to hear from our good friends in Baytown today. They made it through OK, but of course no power there either. I don't envy you guys down there. I hope you all can get back to some sort of normalcy soon.

Good deal, glad to see you're ok. Yeah, I may leave next time. I live in JV (northwest of houston) and it was kinda scary here. I'll certainly have me a good generator next time.

Re: Keep a good thought....
even if you had had 2ft of flood water that truck would have been ok.
All my relatives down there are in the same boat as you... fallen trees, and no power. |
