new from east Tx. 65 c10 swb

Hey everyone this seems like a great forum so I finally joined. I just got a 65 Chevy C10 fleetside. It has the 283 v8 and needs some work. The truck belonged to my grandfather and I picked it up last weekend from San Antonio, Tx. I have been wanting this truck for quite a while. It has a lot of sentimental value to me and its full of memories of when I was a child riding with my grandparents out to the ranch. My grandfather and uncle overhauled the engine and transmission so that is real solid. The interior and exterior need the usual work but it really isn't too bad. Im gonna rebuild the carb this weekend and clean out the tank. I had it running real nice the other day and now it keeps bogging out on me when I give it gas. I think it has some crap in the tank or something. After I get it running solid again I need to replace brake cylinders and brakes and get some tires on it and then I will be able to drive it. Then I will work on interior and slowly work on exterior. I treated the exterior yesterday with some stuff you spray on that stops rust. Enjoy the pics and I will keep everyone updated and will be asking lots of questions. Oh and the only thing not stock is the column shift has been converted to floor shift but I have the original links and stuff to convert back if I choose to do so.

Re: new from east Tx. 65 c10 swb

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Im hoping I get this truck running soon. Im having some trouble with it. I just rebuilt the carbs and cleaned out the gas but It is still sounding bad. Runs sometimes but when I give it gas it bogs out. I have some other post on here concerning the problem so hopefully I can get some advice from you all here. Thanks again for the welcome. This is a great forum with tons of info.
