Just looking for opinions on what you would rather run and comentary on where you think our sport is going in the future . I personally like 1/8th mile and see the trend of less 1/4 mile tracks and more 1/8th miles poping up . Also the amount of land required is less for an 1/8th mile

I really like both but I would love to do more 1/4 mile racing. We have an awesome 1/4 mile track here and we almost always race 1/8th. I would not want to race 1/4 on a narrow/short track. Brakes are almost optional at my home track Montgomery Motorsport Park. I had a friend stop a dragster on a 160mph 1/4 mile shot with no brakes.

1/8 means you cant build a racer good enough for a whole 1/4...

IDK the 1/4 mile is closer to me and easier to access , but i find myself driving to the 1/8 mile as it seems the faster cars gather there .

I like the 1/4 just because it takes that long for my truck to go 95 mph.. now if I could do that in the 1/8th mile id probably love it!

I'm 51, never ran 1/8th untill 1999. Now I love it.

FWIW; less breakdowns
event goes faster
saves $$$$

IMO; most races are won in the first 100 ft anyway

You need to go to pinks all out its pretty cool and you see all kind of cars & trucks from all over the country!

Oh yea, forgot to mention. I'm sooo lucky that where I live here in

Tejas de Norte I can chose 1/8 or 1/4 AND allmost any kind of pay-out

between 8 or 9 tracks within 4 hours or less. I hear that's nothing

compared to the Carolina's.

I have 1/8 mile or a 1/4 mile track within 20 minutes of my house which ever way I go.
I can go to 14 drag strips in less than 2.5 hours in the state of Ohio.
I really like the 1/8 mile drags.
For me it all happens in the 1st 100 feet and the last 100 feet.
I found thru the years that guys who race 1/8 mile all the time tend to be better on the tree - they have less time to make up for being late on the tree.

Well, I haven't ran the 1/4 (at least not at a track

) but I will say that I do enjoy running 1/8 mile stuff. Another plus is the fact that the 1/8 mile is a little easier on parts than the 1/4, which is a plus when you're trying to make decent power with junk parts

One, just one, of the tracks close to me is in Kennedale, Texas.

I've been all over the country and common saying is if you can

be competitive there you can run anywhere. I have seen "MANY"

losses with a .015 "PACKAGE".

It's 1/8 th mile and not uncommon to have 300 in a 5k race.

I agree If you can compete in 1/8th mile racing and go rounds you will own the other guys on the 1/4 mile track.

not only is it bold but it's also true, i have friends that been racing way longer than i have but they race 1/4, started goin racing myself and i race the 1/8th, well i can gurantee i will tree them everytime and i run more consistent cause i have to be. 1/8th mile is the only way to fly for me. but thats my honest opinion

I think the 1/4 is easier than the eighth. Its allot easier to drive the finish line in the quarter.

The closest to me are about an hour away, Rockingham(1/4)and Greensboro(1/8).
