Anyone running bias tires

I got 2 near new front tires, and think I'll do the mud grips with the 7.00 15 . This truck will be working. Anyone else running these? I know a guy who sells a lot of parts for these for years and his personal trucks he runs these on and says they are much easier to steer, tall and skinny

I love the bias tire look, ran them on my 53 wagon, and had them on my 60 (wide white of course). What i didnt like was the way they would some times follow the groves on the road. They do ride a bit more harsher then radials. They are period correct. I'm sure youll get more pros/cons. i say run em see what you think

They do follow the grooves in the road....Found that out at about 80 MPH....

I am running those with a WWW. No P/S and I can steer pretty easy.

My bias tires are great so far. My GMC only runs about 60 MPH without pegging out my V-6, so I don't notice any high speed groove following.

I love the look though....

I'm still running the stock split rims with bias tires, hiway on the front, mud & snows on the back. It's my firewood truck, so it doesn't get driven lots of miles. Takes a few minutes on the road before the tires are round again after sitting for a while and yes, they do follow the grooves, but that keeps you paying attention, which is what you're supposed to do when you're driving!

i love the look of these tires too, I was thinking of getting them for my truck too. where do you guys get them at? also, does anyone know diameter of the stock rims for our year trucks? ive heard 16" and 15"

You might give Les Scwab a call. That's where I got mine used, but it was several years ago. There's a couple on-line places, but can't recall the names now.

the first set I got at a garage sale. mud grips you can buy at most tire shops and ebay. seem to go for about $80 each.

I know farmers like them because they will take the stickers, rocks, rough terrain better than radials.

That's exactly why I run them on my woods truck.

Hey guys,

As an option for the tall tire look you can use the radials LT215/85R16 or the LT235/85R16 load range C or D.

If you care about wear, durability, rolling resistance, traction, handling ... the steel belted radial is superior in almost every way. If you run your truck at todays highway speeds and in traffic, the bias tires that came on our trucks were not designed for that.

We are SOL on 85 aspect 15's. In theory there is a LT215/80R15 but I haven't ever seen one.

So are they worth gettin or should I just save up more money and get some radials?

if you want original, go bias or if you go through the muck, off road, they are tougher on rocks, nails, thorns than radials. They'll never run as smooth when you are going 80mph down the freeway. but if your truck is 6cy, 3 sp, 3.73 gears you'll never worry about that either.
