The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

search for the build thread of that yellow pro-street... I think he probably has the widest tires I've seen under a stepper.

Re: Wide tires

no problem... I was curious myself so I did a little searchin and found this:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=321173

Quote:
Rear Wheel make, size Weld Draglite 15x12
Rear Tire make, size Mickey Thompson
29x15.50-15LT

He took a lot out of the beds though. Keep in mind he has mono-leafs in the rear... trailing arms might make things more difficult.

Re: Wide tires

I have seen 14" Sticky Micky's under a fairly stock '65 at "Cruisin the Coast" a few years ago.
It was tubbed naturally.

Its all in getting the off set perfect.

I was going to do that to mine back in the '90's

Trailing arms offer more room for tires vs. leafs in the stock location.

On my 68 short fleet, I had installed 15x14" steel wheels w/31x18.5 Mickey T's. It required custom back-spaced wheels, larger tubs, & removal of the bumpstop on the outside of the framerail. Pre-67's shouldn't be much different.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Thanks bud,

She doesn't have that many horses for me to wrestler her like the Big Dawgs. . .
Mashed on her a couple times and she was dancing all over the road! She's light! Left some white smoke on a couple pansy rice burners a few times.
She is dangerous in the rain. Got caught a few times coming to and from a couple local car shows. I gotta work on my steering for one thing. Yank that dag gum steering columb out and put a tilt in her.
Got to check on the alignment as well. She was pullin to the right I think.
A lot of work to do! Will keep ya updated!
