Funny you posted this today. I actually thought about doing mine as I looked at the truck in the shop today. It would be low enough I could lean on the roof with my elbow....lol Not sure I'm going to do it though.

I',m thinking of chopping my 54----MAYBE. I don't have any pics for you. I was also thinking of about 1.5 inches. The 54 and 55 1st series has a 1pc front glass. I'm thinking of cutting the top in the center of the curve of the roof,(When looking from the side) the curve between the glass and roof top. Then laying back the stock height glass. That will give a raked back glass without cutting the glass. Hopefully some mild chop pics will be posted.

Its been a love hate with this thing, my 53 Olds 4 door.

Anyhow, chopping a task force truck, I think is an art form in itself, getting it "right" is a big deal. Proportions will kill a chop so will ride height, Here are a couple of examples:

i dont think task force trucks look good chopped at all , but if your gonna do it atleast make it look like blue 58-9 above , thats one of the few ive seen that look good . I dont know how much its chopped but i wouldnt go through all the trouble just to chop something 1.5 inches

ya that blue one is sweet, im looking for the AD trucks, the previous years, ive seen lots of them chopped but never found out how low.. im looking for pictures to compare the amount of chop and decide from there

how are you supposed to drift in a truck that low? i like em low but the cake is taken and raped by that truck

Do a search on hotrodders.com for some posts by Martinsr. He has a sectioned and chopped AD truck and has over the years posted many how-to's along with pictures.

I think that if 55-59's are chopped to much it looks like a tank turret. The black one needs to be sectioned about 4" through the middle so it doesn't look so bottom heavy. It would get the door handles down closer to the bed level. Make it look like a skate board rather than a roller skate.

I chopped my AD 3 1/2" & lenthened the cab & doors 3".....Don

either 3.5 or 4" was already done when previous owner got it. We had to basically redo it though... Poor welding

The only thing missing is the sun roof with a skull shifter sticking out. It gets a 10 for originality.

looks pretty cool for an old international, they could have takin an inch or 2 out of the back of the cab instead of the window, there was too much takin out of the back window... and it kinda looks like they didnt do a "true" chop in the front, probably took the same amount out of the front pillar as the back, instead of taking it out vertically. looks "leaned back" i guess lol

on usbody.com they have a picture of a sweet purple 58' with a chop...has the lip at the windshield flushed to.Looks about the same as the blue one just more lexan and rubber

I wish it were mine but it isn't, but to answer your question, I am about 99.9% sure the roof is sectioned, moving the pillars back would be an unbelievable amount of work. So many thing would be out of whack, the dash, the firewall.
