How much HP to run low 7's

Hello to all.... new to the forum. Great site by the way!
I have a 71 swb prostreet truck with a 406. I'm guessing my truck weighs in the neighbor hood of 3900 lbs. How much HP would it take to run 7.0's in the 1/8?

Re: How much HP to run low 7's

Thanks tonloc. Looks like i better go ahead and up grade my heads. Maybe the AFR 210's will get me a little closer. I will be happy if i can get this thing down in the low 7's. I have a 406 with Scat rotating assembly, 11.4:1 comp., Motown 220 heads, Comp XE292 solid roller, Team G 2" raised plenum intake, QuickFuel 850, 1 3/4 headers.
Here is a pic with a Dominator that i had for it but changed for streetability

if you still have the intake in the picture you will need a wilson adapter plate to a 4150 with the nitrous bars to run 7.00.

Re: How much HP to run low 7's

Thanks Super73.... I will get those specs to you asap. I dont think i am to awful far from my goals. I know my current heads are holding me back a bit. There is a 79 truck at our local track in full trim, stock suspension with cal-tracks. this truck had everything it came with from the factory except A/C and runs 7.02 consistantly on a 10" tire all motor with a 406. This is the truck that started it all for me. He just put a 434 in it but hasnt got the bugs worked out yet. Cant wait to see what that truck will do this spring when the track opens up. Thanks to all that posted!

Re: How much HP to run low 7's

It takes a 383 with a 200shot of nitrous for my truck to run low 7's. That's real world results. But anything is possible on the internet...
