progress or tear down of my 66

Okay, I've located another bed, long step side, back bumper is trash. Im going to make a ranch hand style for it. I've got a another 250 from my 68 biscayne I'll put in here after a valve job.
Now I know why me and a friend toasted the tranny in his brother in laws 64 back in the 80s on a beer run. That thing is tiny and we speed shifted back, parked like we didnt know what happened. HMMM. I dont think they live too long behind a 8cylinder. Its smaller than samurai transmission. The 250 in here will need a total rebuild from flood damage.

Re: progress or tear down of my 66

I want to get the other 250 cleaned up and ready to drop in. I will do a valve job first but it seems like the bottom end is okay plus that will get this truck running sooner. Im putting on a long step side bed. I took pics of this long stepper with a rebuilt 250, cracked glass, rusted rockers and they were asking $2500. Thought it was kind of cool. Mine will be more solid however.

Re: progress or tear down of my 66

Im using the 250 from my 68 biscayne project, it runs decent. I 'll have the head redone though, rebuild the carb too. Powerwashers really come in handy

Talking Re: progress or tear down of my 66

and the 3speed, cleaned up, drained the oil in it yesterday. It had quite a bit of water in it too. The less dirt that goes back on, cleaner the parts that is the less dirty in my eyes. I used a putty scraper on the 40+ years of grease

Re: progress or tear down of my 66

well I got my parts trucks hauled in. Emptied out the bed of the red long stepper. I will try to removed the bolts tomorrow and get it ready to pull off the truck.. The wood in the long stepper was in better shape than I had thought.

Re: progress or tear down of my 66

The cream colored truck has chrome grille which I will pull of tomorrow. I may save the cross member too. someone had changed it to a V8. red truck had a later model rear end underneath it too. see the pics. I'm going to pull the carb/intake exhaust manifold off, valve cover a few more odds and ends, drive shafts from both trucks too

Wow, you guys have some nice 'PARTS TRUCKS' up there in OK. Wish I could find a long fleet bed in that shape around here!

Re: progress or tear down of my 66

I got a good deal on them. red stepped bed has a little rust on the fenders but not bad. Gave $150 for them. red truck has more parts I will use. I'm grabbing both driveshafts cause you never can find one when you need it.
I will give away whatever parts I dont use.
