Talking 00 owners...talk to me about your rear end.

Ok now that I have your attention...

I would like to hear what axle you went with and if you had to tub the bed etc. I have a 47 AD. Although I think it is actually a 50...

Recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Is there an exact fit model / year.

I have this link but was hoping to be able to narrow it down.

Re: 00 owners...talk to me about your rear end.

4d i didn't want tubs on my 53 but was sorta forced in to the decision and i think i prefer them. even thou mine are pretty small i think they add to the look. mine is a ford 9" w/ 3:73 gears. i wanted the 9" because of the design. if you go with some of the most common parts you have more choices on price and options. what is your look? low?

Re: 00 owners...talk to me about your rear end.

Yes I want to go as low as possible without bags. I guess I am not understanding this correctly then. My thought was depending on the width of my axle will partially determine if I have to tub the box. I guess it will also depend on how much of a 'c' notch I go with also, correct? Or will spacers take care of that? I am going with a 4 link.

So I guess my question is from what model & year of Ford did you take yours from?

I am trying to simplify my search to a year and model.

Hope these are not totally dumbass questions.

I have a mid 60's big car 12 bolt. Stock width. No tubs in my bed and it lays the running board on the ground on 8" wide wheels.

Re: 00 owners...talk to me about your rear end.

my rear was ordered for the truck i don't know which used rear will work width wize. i do know you can go down pretty far but since you don't want bags i wouldn't go to far. in fact you may not need a notch since your going to run a static height. you may want to reconsider the bags as it will let you run lower. i have a 2" cnoch and a regular bed (albeit the floor is 2" higher). your limit on tire width will determine your tubs i have 10" rears and need the room. if you were really carful you might get that with out the tubs. but you may rub on uneven pavement. if you have a slick paint job it can be expensive. i ran the stock axel for 20 years low. and scraped many of speedbumps. i prefer the adjustability of the bags

51 3600 - 10 bolt 81 Camaro with 700 tires no need to tub. I don't want to mess up my bed, I like the original look.

Re: 00 owners...talk to me about your rear end.

48 on 54 frame with a mid 70's Nova 10 bolt 8 inch Enkie 32 rims with 4-1/2 inch backspace I think. I have about half of an inch or a tad more clearance between the bed sides and the 255/60/15 tires. about the same on the outside between tire and fender.

I have a 76 Cad Seville rear end out here that looks quite similar to the Nova but is said to be a bit wider and it does have larger drum brakes and some of the 79/80's had disk on the rear. It is high geared though. Not much acceleration but lots of top end cruising speed.

Expect to have to C notch the frame if you are going to get anywhere close to low in the rear even w/o bags. For me it is static ride height or nothing as I do not plan to run bags but will be low again.
