Automatic Tranny Question with an Inline 6
I have seen Brad's write up on the T5 into his truck and I am impressed to say the least. Unfortunately due to some severe knee issues, a manual tranny won't be in my future. I currently run a 250 inline and an SM465 truck 4 speed that sounds as though it will be spilling it's guts on my driveway soon. What exactly would it entail for me to put in a 700R4? Connection wise, I get that I will have to move the crossmember and get the driveline hacked...The only variable I am worrying about is the TV cable. What if I were to put in a TH350, my tires are 29 inches tall and I have a 3.73 posi out back. Would I really kill my mileage all that much? Or is it stupid of my not to go with the 700R4? Never dealt with a TV cable, everyone I have had was a 4L60E. Thanks in advance to Brad and Pickmup for their assistance.
Josh

Re: Automatic Tranny Question with an Inline 6
The truck 4 speed and the TH350 should both have a final drive ratio of 1:1 so that would put you right where you are in high gear.I only know that the 700R4 TV cable has to be spot on for the tranny to live very long. There are some performance tranny co.'s that have solved that problem but it can get pricey. Also, the tranny crossmember is at the bellhousing on your truck. You will have to find an auto tranny crossmember to swap. The shifter will also have to be adressed, either by installing a floor shift or swapping the steering column.

Crossmember is not an issue, and I like the look of a pretty *****in homebuilt floor shift automatic to look as though the manual tranny was still there. What type of carb would I have to run to be compatible with the TV cable? Planning on an Holley 390 or a Edelbrock 500..., keep in mind I am a 4L60E guy...
