Picked up my Rearend

3.55 Posi, Disk Brakes and super strong 8.8....

all for $150 from the local scrap yard and they pulled it and loaded it.. Nothing cut except for a sensor wire on top which I would never use annyways.. The ebrake cables are still in tact and not cut..

What a great deal! Funny thing is I got the rearend before the truck,.... Thanks to mother nature...

I'd still reconsider saying no to a swaybar. BTW are you sure you're going to lay frame or are you going to lay runningboard.

there ya go

From a safety point of view though it's something to remember. If something fails with your bag system using a stock frame, body damage obviously will occur.

Re: Picked up my Rearend

I have a few questions about this swap if yall don't mind answering them,

What is the difference in the width of the 8.8 and the 67-72 12 bolt?

Is the lug pattern the same?

What about the e-brake connection?

And lastly if you have power front disc/rear drum brakes do you need to change the proportioning valve with the addition of the rear discs on the 8.8?

Thanks in advance for the input,

I was wondering the exact same thing. Everything I looked at says the bolt pattern is 5x114? If that's the case, then it would be a mis-match for the s10 swap correct?

Re: Picked up my Rearend

5 on 4 1/2 (ford dodge) bolt patern, But if your doing a m II or the dodge dakota front in. then it's just right. They also make steele and ralley wheels that have both 5x4 1/2 and 5x 4 3/4 bolt patern on them. I sub framed my 38 coupe with a 69 f-body and have the 8.8 rear with the steele wheels painted lime green with babys and beauties and hot rod black.. I think it's cool

Re: Picked up my Rearend

You don't have to you can have your axles and rotors redrilled. I have a 9 inch in my 55 210 with redrilled axles and rotors. It all depends on what you really want. For every action theres a reaction. It was important to me to stay with the Chevy bolt pattern because of my Chevy 210 front end. But with a mustang two you can buy rotors either way. I just wanted you to know you still have a choice. By the way its easy to take the axles out that rearend it's a c-clip rearend.

Re: Picked up my Rearend

It has nothing to do with the front. I have 18x7 up front. I have 55 210 (not talking about my truck) with a 9 inch. The front suspension is not changed other than disc brakes they came with IFS. I wanted the bolt pattern to match so I had my rearend axles and rotors redrilled to match the front. In other words I had the 9 inch Ford redrilled to be able to install Chevy wheels.
