s10 swap guys: gas fill necks?

For those of you who have swapped onto s10 frames and retained stock gastank....Where/how did you route the filler neck? I really, really dont want it in the bed and im wondering if i can route it through the stake pocket?

Look at sgtusmc build for an innovative solution, hid it with an ammo box.

Re: s10 swap guys: gas fill necks?

I have read through that thread and many others on this site and havent found anything i like. I dont want to put it in the bed because i think it looks unfinished and when my truck is done it will have a nice paintjob so i dont want to scratch it all up when filling up the truck. My grandpa plans to drive this everyday so it has to be very useable, very dependable, and not going to destroy a bedside

If you could route it via the stake pocket that would be cool. If it were me, I'd plug all the stake pocket holes smooth. and make a flip door above one of the stake pockets and recesse the filler in there. It would be a lot of fabbing, but might turn out killer in the end. This might be something I'll do someday.

Re: s10 swap guys: gas fill necks?

I am using the original filler neck and location using 1 1/2" fuel hose from original filler to tank. I used a 96 s10 frame leaving the tank in its stock location welded original filler neck on tank closed and welded a new neck on the front of the tank as high as possible. Drilled a hole in the cab floor installed a grommet and passed the hose through to the tank. Hope this makes sense.

How did he do that? Is it just a hole drilled in the bedside and stock s10 routing?

I don't know how he did it. I'll be figuring it out on my own. But I'm going to use my original filler neck.

Looks kind of like the cab filler relocated down there.
