another new guy with old truck
hello guy's i've enjoyed the forum for awhile so t thought i would join up,i've been a off-roading guy for many years and still do every now and then but,i'm getting to old for the beating you have to take, but anyway here is a short history on my 66 lb/fs ,i was buying some firewood off a guy last fall when i seen this truck setting in a pole barn ,the only thing you could see was the front end of it sticking out of a pile of anything you can think of piled on top of it,i told him i used to have one of those back in the early 80's with a camper on it ,could i look at it.we started talking about how he had owned the truck since 1980,and he parked in there in 92,and that he was going to rebuild it,so there it sat with no bed in it,no transmission, but he did give me the original tranny that was in it,he said help me dig out of there and you can have it for 1500$,i came straight home and got my trailer and hauled it home.to make a long story short thats how i aquired this truck, even though i really didn't want it that bad when i bought it,but it was a project for the winter since i'm am retired i have plenty of time to tinker on it.but here it is now i've been driving it for about a month now and love this truck now ,it drives and rides as good as a new truck,

Re: another new guy with old truck
thanks alot guys it is a never ending project,it has a 350/350 turbo in it right now .the rear diff gears are a little to high for the highway though,i think i will go to overdrive tranny in the future.but for the city it is pretty quick the way it is now,but i'm going to repaint it when the weather warms a bit, this indiana weather sucks.

Re: another new guy with old truck
Looks nice for the $5000 you have invested, better than driving one of those "newer type" vehicles, huh?
Nice work!!
