Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

make sure the harness is for a gauge truck.. you can buy a speedo cable at autozone for $15 or so... Plastic shell but it works...

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

On Saturday after picking up some junk laying around and organizing just a bit.... I started a "half hour job" to remove V8 crossmember and install 292 crossmember.... got it 3/4 way unbolted only to find the PO had welded the lower PS portion... apparently he either lost the bolts or couldnt get the holes to line up.... needless to say i had to grind and drill and grind some more ( no torch here) it took 3 hrs.....

and of course had to spend a lil money on a handy shop cart too.... Hey I cant sink all of my cash into trucks...

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

scored this and a decent set of 68 chevy eye brows and some headlight bezels from a local fella today.... the only one of the bezelsis decent but hey cant beat the price.... $60 the gate is rust free but had some dents but it will be great for my 70 K5 which currently has a gate with NO bottom on it the bottom trimis attached with 2 sided tape.... its a real 67 68 gate....

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

ok i posted this same question in the main forum..can any one help?

ok Stupid request.. could you get me some pictures of the engine mounts specifically how they are attached to themotor thru the cross memeber and to the block mount? the PO had taken the motor out and the one I got was already out of the truck with the c shaped rubber mount and the small square rubber and bolts already set aside.. I may be missing something or just having a brain fart but i want to get the motor in my truck with all the mounts properly installed

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

Hey Dan, way to go man that thing is a "BEAST" and it looks good now. I just tossed a 67 cab with some rust in the cowl but the floor was perfect, I was going to cut the bottom of the cab off, but didn't it has been sitting for about 2 years and I haven't touched it so off it went!! I hope to get my 72 Burb home this weekend?! Let's see more, and especially my err I mean YOUR Blazer?!

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

Oh and the motor mount just sits on that pad and a bolt from the backside goes into the mount. The C shaped mount is as Mike says the trans mount, C down and the square comes up from bottom to bolt into trans/transfer case mount.

dont tell me the woes of life in the desert southwest and how you toss out cabs cause of minor rust...ship em up here!!!! LOL
still thinking im gonna grab that 70 2WD blazer chassis and swap the 70 K/5 tub to it.... already have a nice K/5 might as well make a "C/5" and trick it out with a LT1/ 4L60E and 3.23 gears for LONG legs

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

Any half decent exhaust shop should be able to bend up a system, be sure to pony up the extra $$$ for stainless pipe if you can then the rust gremlins will stay away for a while longer?! How's the K5 look with the 72 nose job?? I was thinking of you when I bought a cherry 68 clip with original paint on it still, I said man I wish I had the clip from the Blazer (both as the 2wd I sold has a cherry clip from a GMC as well)!!

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

I am jelous though I have no more Blazers to go topless in!! I sat in the 2wd when I swapped tops (no motor or trans, so I was sitin' in the driveway makin' motors sounds with my mouth!!) it was too cool to have nothing obstruct your view except the vent windows and windshield frame?? Maybe I'll make the burb topless?, NAH!

BTW I offered that 67 cab to someone on the board for free, but the trip was going to be too spendy for him to get it?? I tried?!

I think Easdwood calls that shade, "Chevy Blueflame Six Blue".
Chevy 6 Cyl Blue--p/n 51617 ZP. Heat resistant to 650* but $33 bucks a quart.
Not necessarily vintage- concours d'elegance- period correct, but might look nice set in the engine bay of a light blue/white two-tone fleetside.

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

my compressor decided to take a dump yesterday.. so not much progress till i can get a piston rod and fan for the craftsman compressor.... so much for oil less...LOL the piston rod decided it had enuff work....
any how i got the block painted with POR 15 chevy red.. (which looked more pinkish) so i hit it with Plastikote universal red... its looking good..
cleaned out the oil pan and removed a couple dents... same with the valve cover... going outta town over night to Albany for work so Im gonna pick up Torsion Boxes for the K5...from a member . not a bad way to make a work road trip profit my endeavour

Re: 1967 Chevrolet K20 "The BEAST"

some setbacks and trolling junk yards to find the right stuff for the PS setup..its almost complete! turns out i had the needed double pulleys for the alt and pump in my collection of crap.... but i needed a different bracket....
I can get it to work...anyhow here are some pics of a clean painted 292 and the mock-up of the PS setup...
also scored another 68 grille the missing DS headlight bezel and a decent 72 grille off the same truck that donated the un molested wiring harness...
and of course the last pic is of some of my Fleet..loading pics as I enjoy some Joe Walsh . "There Goes the Neighborhood"
