Rust NEVER Sleeps 2009
Rust NEVER Sleeps 2009
The 7th Annual 1960 - 1966 Cheverolet / GMC truck, van, panel, Suburban get together, pot luck barbeque and swap meet. When: June 6th D-Day 2009 11:00 am until sun down Where: Lagoon Valley Regional Park, Vacaville Ca Just South of I-80 take the Pena Adobe exit & follow the signs This is a family friendly event bring all the kids - bring the neighbor's kids!! I'll be bringing my famous barbeque grill and enough mesquite to cook half of Texas so just bring your own meat and one side dish to share. There is a big pond, hiking & biking trails, a dog mall there's even an 18 "hole" frisbee golf course if you're so inclined! park admission is $3.00 per vehicle and if you want to enter in the truck show for a chance to win trophies in 4 catagories the entry fee is still a low, low, $15.00. Hey guys lets see how many folks we get to attend this year. Last year we only had 2 trucks. (my truck was still growing cob webs in the driveway) John a.k.a. ChiefRocka came from SJ in his sweet little '63 old school "banger", Big-wave Dave came crusin' in from Modesto with his newest addition: a big ol' orange '63 with a '61 grill. My buddy Dennis came by in his little hot rod Chevy (disguised as a Ford roadster) And "Frisco Johnny" showed up with his boy to support the event even though his truck was still in pieces. I know we can do this - we've had up to 22 entries in years past - so let's beat the bushes and gather up the support! If you know somebody with a 60-66 Chevy truck in your area, and I know you do, get him or her to come! I'm calling on all the old schoolers and the newbies from Santa Rosa to Grass Valley from Modesto to San Jose and everywhere in between Come on down and let's show off our projects and talk some smack!!! I don't care if your rig is still held together with duct tape & bailin' wire (like mine) - there's a prize for that too. Bring your spare parts and your back issues of Custom Classic Truck magazine make a few bucks find a good deal, meet some new people and have a burger or a dog. I guarantee you you'll want to come back next year.

Re: Rust NEVER Sleeps 2009
It is not the amount of distance traveled. Some say it is too far for them. I used to love to drive my truck to Tahoe for the Truck Show up there but it is not happening anymore. I used to see people checking out my truck when I was driving down the freeway or even at a stop sign giving me the the thumbs up. I have 3 1/2 weeks to get my truck going.

Re: Rust NEVER Sleeps 2009
Right ON!
lets do it!! Tony - that's a badass stance on that 64 - I hope you bring it! Joemamma (cool tag by the way) Maybe you can hook up with another buddy of mine, Dave (Chevyboy62), when you roll through Modesto. I know it's a long haul, but we'd love to have ya! Stepside, yeah I get the looks at the lights too now that I "painted" my truck - not too many thumbs-up's it's mostly a different finger.

Re: Rust NEVER Sleeps 2009
I got flyers now if anybody want's 'em. Just send me an e-mail.
Print 'em up and hand 'em out to local folks you might know with a 60-66 Chevy truck or put 'em on the counter at your local parts store, or stick 'em on the windshield of any 60-66 Chevy truck you might see while you're cruisin around.

Re: Rust NEVER Sleeps 2009
"Does it matter what it looks like?"
Heck no! that's why I named it "Rust NEVER Sleeps" it's also why I created a catagory for the most rust! I put this thing together originally to do 3 things: 1 most imortantly, to get on-line buddies and their families to meet face to face to hang out over some good eats and swap stories and share tips. 2 To build networks for local people to find support with their projects even if they don't have computers. 3. To provide a venue where 60-66 Chevy trucks could be grouped together in a show regardless of their state of completion, because let's face it; a. our trucks aren't very well represented in main stream car & truck shows. b. while it's absolutely *****en to see all the hard work pay off in a tricked out clean restoration or customization of a 60-66 Chevy truck, but sometimes the rust, the faded paint, dings & scratches are what gives charactor to some people's rigs and we feel that's ok too.

Re: Rust NEVER Sleeps 2009
My brothers, can I get you to step up to the altar and recieve a .pdf flyer so you can go forth an spread the word? We need to bring in the people who might not otherwise know of the flock, gather them together in one place so that we might all fellowship around the barbeque and revel in the glory that is to be a 60-66 Chevy Truck owner! The revival of the 60-66 Chevy truck is at hand!
Send me an e-mail requesting a flyer and I will equip you with the tools to carry out this mission! hilandr451@earthlink.net Time is of the essence, because as you all know.....Rust NEVER Sleeps!
