where can i send my steering column to be rebuilt?
hey guys my steering column is shot. do u know of a company that i can send my steering column to have it rebuilt? or where i can find a new column for cheap money? i just cant afford spending $500. on a new column. the one thats in the truck is wicked sloppy and is an auto van tilt out of a 72. i bought a used one out of a 71 chevy pickup but its missing parts and needs to be rebuilt. please help guys where can i send my column?

I believe a board member can rebuild it and he also has an exchange service, I'll try to find his name.

If it's just sloppy all it needs is the 4 torque screws with locktite tightned. An hrs work after removal.
Do it yourself.

Contact KevsClassic. He offers a new/rebuilt tilt for around $450 or he can rebuild yours for like $250-$275 I believe. Click on the link below for more info.

sammy, im gonna try to rebuild the 71 auto tilt column thats in the truck. where are these torque screws located on the column? ive looked at the tilt rebuild thread and cant find it. im also having trouble taking off the collar part where the shifter handle attaches. i cant get the tilt assembly out. any help guys? thanks pics would be great. aye aye aye this steering column is frustrating

search the FAQ pages.. there are instructions and exploded views. The outer collar pulls off with some light tapping... the tilt mech needs the pivot pins pulled on the sides. You can use a socket, a washer and a machine screw that will screw into the center of them...
