This guy really thinks he has a prize

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1180703467.html

Was searching Craigslist for stuff near my brother.

This dude really thinks he has something here.

Not too bad of shape.

But where did he come up with that price???

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

To many people watching wrecks to riches thinking they have the next potential Barret Jackson winner and want to get their share. I've seen some crazy prices for TF and AD trucks lately.

Someone will pay that price and wonder why after they dump a $1k into it they can't sell it for $3k.

Its an $800 truck maybe $1000 if the frame isn't all chopped up and it has a title.

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

Wow, maybe he forgot to take his meds....???

I love how the first thing he lists in his 'selling points' is the Holley 4bbl, then later on states that the carb needs to be replaced!

I definitely agree that the Barrett-Jackson effect is the culprit here!

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

Unfortunately, this is too common in the DFW area... PPL think just because it's a classic they can get top dollar for it. one example $1800.00 for a '56 swb missing one rear fender, no drivetrain, no interior, mucho rust...... but to them its a classic and they will just hold on to it until it rusts in the ground because a SANE person will not pay that amount.

I could see maybe $2500.00 If it ran good, but even that would be a stretch.

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

saw a white SWB 72 parked by a garage a few weeks ago by my place,, had the white paint on the windshield and said $1000, had a dent in the left fender, and looked ok, needed fresh paint and such, but thought I would check it out later as no one was home..

two days later, it was pulled up to the curb, with red paint on it for $4000 for sale! OK.....

now a month later, its still sitting, I drive by and look, and now he has changed the price....

to $4500!

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

^ i think the price is going the wrong way ... you meant to say started at 4500 then a month later 4000. now he is in a bind for buying all that paint and will accept 1000.

idk, he runs that ad every couple of weeks.

It must mean a lot to him...

My buddy did this too - he spent about 18k hot rodding a '65 Falcon, then tried to sell it for 20k. He had it for sale for 3 years before he finally sold it for 13k

When will people learn that you really can't get back what you put into them. I'm not necessarily talking money either. How about time, worry, and heartbreak.lol Thats why nothing I have is for sale unless I'm just straped for cash or I see another project I just have to have so I'm willing to take the loss.

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

I,ve been a car guy since 1964 and can,t believe the stupidity in the hobby today, I love the adds that say this is worth big dollars on ebay or fixed up it will bring this much and rare, The best is the rare 3 door 68-72 chevy suburban, find a 4 door if you want rare. Also when did any car not a convertible become a hardtop, what happened to absence of b pillar making it a hardtop. Next when did a body on a rolling chassis become a rolling chassis? the world is full of morons.

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

I think some people, this is a perfect example, do a little to much of this... It makes the rest of us want to do this... .
Sorry, I cant help but ask myself, are these people drunk?!? $4500 for that is just silly. The scary part is that they may find some "nincumpoo" to buy it for close to that thinking they just got a smoking deal.

Naw that just makes too much sense. It'll never happen.

Re: This guy really thinks he has a prize

I saw an ad for a Stude. pickup for $5000. I thought that should be a pretty nice truck so I went to see it. The bottoms of the fenders, rockers, & cab corners were rusted out. Besides it was a 3/4 ton. The guy says it has a new motor in it, do you want to hear it run? I said no thanks its not what I want & walked off.

Craigslist cost nothing. Can ask for the moon.

If craigslist started charging $100 it would screen out all the dreamers.

I concur. A lot of folks are hoping for a sell that they couldn't have made when the market was up two years ago.

It's too late for these folks.

Actually I have to suppliers for body panels that lowered their prices by 10%. Thats big for panel suppliers. Unfortunately most resellers have not passed that along.

Dude sits on that truck long enough, somebody will want it bad enough to pay his price. I ain't the one.
