That's correct, goes on under the cowl panel and is held in place by those screws that attach it to the body.

I doubt it. If I remvoved the bracket (wedge on firewall) it would help in alot of ways. It would bring the angle down and my rod would be long enough to hook up the way I think it should. But that means drilling more holes in the firewall that already looks like swiss cheese. I might be able to line one hole maybe 2 holes up.

Sat around the shop tonight depressed and unmotivated. I finally got off my arse and did something. The booster will work out great (unless I'm missing something) with the wedge removed. It leveled it out and I can hook up the brake pedal rod. In the meantime I wanted to share this little trick, most of ya'll probably already know. It's basically the old way of making gaskets out of rolled gasket material. One of many things I learned from my Dad.

I wanted to make a template of the boosters bracket holes. So I wouldn't risk scratching the firewall.

First lay a piece of paper over the part you want to template



Once you locate and tap with a ball peen hammer lightly (the hammer cuts the hole out) install a bolt to lock the paper in place and repeat for the rest of the holes.





Then use it for whatever you need it for. This is what I used it for. It not only locates my holes, but protects the firewall.



Here is the booster angle now.



Pedal rod adjusted to a drop fit with the brake pedal against the rubber bumper.



Pedal rod is almost center of the hole.



Also tweaked the right door at the top corner. I couldn't do it while fitting cause I would have pushed the cab off of the stand. So this is how I did it.



Use a clean rubber hammer (no metal shavings) and use care doing this until you get a feel for it. Don't freak if you hear a little popping and cracking. Don't get mad at me if you screw something up. It's best to see it done first, but most don't have that luxury. Just take your time. When you push find a strong part of the door like the edge and use the palm of your hands to push. I've messed things up over my years, but I chalk it up to a learning experience and repair the damage done.

Alan, I'm just curious why you don't want to run the wedge and bracket horizontal like they came from the factory?

Thanks, I taped up the holes and painted like everything else. What have you heard?

I tried mounting it that way and it looks weird IMHO. I'm after a clean look and that too me would grab everyone's attention. Plus eliminating the wedge fixed my problem with the pedal rod. So far it looks like there won't be any clearance problems.

I had all intentions of getting some crap done today, but the crap got me instead.

I was on here this morning waiting for the wife to get out of the shower and I heard the down stairs toilet bubbling............What the heck (I new what it was, but didn't want to admit it on my day.) I grew up on a septic tank and never had it pumped. This new one lasted 8 years. I found out these new divided tanks need to be pumped every 3-5 years. It was packed full on the inlet side. The guy said you could probably walk on it. Nah that's alright. Normally they charge $350 but add $100 for a sunday call. He worked at it for 2-3 hours and did a fantastic job.

That's gonna set back my parts buying even more.

I removed all the rock I just put down cause I knew they wouldn't take their time with it. The tank had 2 about 18"x18" concrete plugs for access. It has been years since I had seen a septic tank. The last one I saw had 3 sections that made up a lid. And the new one even had a filter on the exit end. I couldn't believe it.

Happy Birthday Alan and sorry to hear about your septic system.

I had the same problem with the door seals on my '63. After I glued the seal into place, the door would not close. I basically just pushed the seal on, no tension, when I got to the end I had about 6” inches left that I cut off. I let it sit for about a week also thinking the compression of the door would fix it. It didn't. I finally pulled the seal off and then put it back on with a little tension. When I got it glued back in place I had another 4-6” of slack.

I think it's got to be put on somewhat tight, just not sure how tight.




I know that's not a lot of info but hope it helps.
