1978 k5 & Cheyenne ONLY wheels-- HELP
I am in despirate need of a set of wheels that were for this year ONLY-- they are made by WR Grace Co. they are aluminium and have 13 spokes- they were an option for that year Blazer and Cheyenne- any leads or other information would be appreciated for a vendor who makes these as replacements or has them as NOS--

Look at American Racing wheels. They have a vintage wheel area that has a wheel similar to that. Not sure if it's the same one, or one for the dodge's.

That looks like a set I saw on Craigslist a couple months ago. They were listed as American Racing Turbos. I will look and see if I can find the listing again.

Re: 1978 k5 & Cheyenne ONLY wheels-- HELP
Why do you think these were a factory offering? I looked at the 78 pickup brochure and the 78 blazer brochures that I have. These wheels are shown on a yellow and white blazer on the right side of the inside of the brochure, but the caption says "Many vehicles in this catalog are shown with available factory-installed options, dealer accessories and specialized equipment from various independent suppliers."
The brochures also mention that bright wheel covers (dog dish hubcaps), full wheel covers, rally wheels and styled steel wheels (like wagon wheels, but with provisions for mounting the same center caps as a rally wheel) are the available wheel options. I think that would put these in the "specialized equipment from various independent suppliers" category. I checked my 1978 GMC Truck Data Book. This book lists original specifications for all types of parts on the truck, engines, axles, transmissions, wheels etc. It has over 30 pages of the tires available on light duty trucks in 1978. It lists them as regular, Rally and Styled wheels in both 5 and 6 lug. They don't list any aluminum wheels at all for 1978 on light duty trucks. Here's the brochure picture I was looking at...

Well, I thought it was "factory" where dealer installed would probably be the proper term-- Thanks for posting the picture of the brochure--

Re: 1978 k5 & Cheyenne ONLY wheels-- HELP
There is mention of these wheels as "OEM" on Wikipedia under W.R. Grace. I've been looking around, but haven't really found anything else on them.
My 78 Truck came with a similar style rim, but not the same number of spokes. I believe they are "Western" aftermarket wheels. Google Images has a few "western wheels" photos that are interesting. On page two, there is a set similar to the image you posted. Not sure any of this is helpful, but was intrigued by the post and went out searching to find more information.

They look the same to me. Only difference I see is the accommodation for the 4x4 up front.
