Red face tdc 5.7l 350 dist video

In process of installing a new HEI dist. for a 73. Have remote starter to find
TDC. Presently have old dist w/out cap on the eng. Should i find TDC with old dist. and check striker on rotor is pointing at #1 plug or use the new dist.? Or when i find TDC, mark on intake and replace with new dist.? Have Champion plugs gaped at .035 rather than .040-.045. Also, the harmonic bal is liquid. Do i
need to replace the timing tab?

thanks in advance
