TH350 ol Curt
I know i will need to remove the three speed manual(duh), but will it be possible for me to put the automatic TH350 in my 66c10 leaving the inline 250 in place? I'm hoping so, as that inline is long to begin with. I can't imagine trying to put it back in with the tranny attached. I put the motor back in myself last time...whew, that was a bear! Although, I do have a cherry picker and I DO really need to repaint my firewall in the body color!

You can leave it in, but you will have to support the back of the engine so it won't fall through. The exaust will help hold it up but I wouldn't put all that strain on that alone. You will also have to remove the center crossmember. I see rivit grinding in your future..

Very funny!! I don't mind grinding terribly, but upside down is not one of my favorite ways to do it!

Re: TH350 ol Curt
I have a 350 turbo/250 inl6 setup in my panel. The PO installed it. I noticed the tranny support has been moved back from the original place. There is plenty of room to work so good luck.

Re: TH350 ol Curt
I suppose a transmission jack is necessary, or could I make some kind of cradle to fit on my floor jack?

Re: TH350 ol Curt
FYI. The PO left the three speed column in and used the top bracket of the shifter to shift. I works but I'm in the process of installing a auto shift column. I will take photos to help you along the way. Still waiting for the column to arrive.

Re: TH350 ol Curt
Just put a piece of plywood under the pan so the jack won't crush it. The hardest part is trying to get the tranny on the jack under the truck if there is not enough height to roll it under from the outside. It htat makes sence to you.

Yes, that makes perfect sense.
Thanks!
