another rear window question

Hey guys, I've read most all the info on replacing a rear window but I'm thinking I may not have an original in mine. If you place the gasket in first and cut it to fit and then place it on the window there is at least a 2-3 inch overlap. This makes it virtually impossible to put the glass in the gasket first because the window won't stay in the gasket if I don't fit it flush. I noticed when I took the window out there was quite a space between the edge of the glass-gasket-to cab frame. Can someone give me dimensions of a small rear back glass? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

If you look in the Historical/This I Know section there are dimensions of the rear window. The supplier of you rear window rubber might have sent you a few inches more. Place the rubber around the cab opening with a 3/16" piece of rope inside of the glass channel at the top only. Inset the glass starting at the bottom and work your way around using a plastic trim tool. When your almost finished press on the glass and pull the rope out 90 degree's to the glass face. This should pry the rubber lip up while the glass is sliding in. I sometimes lube the rubber with dish soap to allow the glass to move around a bit. It goes alot easier with two people. One inside, one out.

Put the seal on the glass FIRST. Tape it as you go to hold it if necessary. Then place a rope in the channel and press it against the opening pulling the rope out so the gasket grabs the sill. Then press in your lock bead. I use a small upholstry tool to open up the channel and pop in the lock as I go. It may require some type of lube such as silicon or even glass cleaner.
