Wire Loom Set Ideas.....?

Okay kids - truck's back in my hands next Friday and I've got to remove the melted plastic POS Mr. Goodwrench looms that hold my beautiful red Taylor 8mm wires in place.

This is what I'm considering (for about $30.00 from Summit Racing), in black:

Any other ideas to keep the ignition wires from frying on the ram-horns?

Mac.

Re: Wire Loom Set Ideas.....?

I've already got a set of these (from the Chevelle project), but if I encase the wires inside them, over the exhaust manifolds, I might as well pull out a bottle of KC Masterpiece sauce and eat them after about a week of driving.

Re: Wire Loom Set Ideas.....?

If you will loom them like original around the back of the engine and under the manifolds, you will never have any more troubles. Look at 67-72 truck sources for the proper loom brackets. I do all mine that way and run them for years and years without a worry.

Re: Wire Loom Set Ideas.....?

Sell the 283 and go with something with a coil on plug design.

Thats why I love my V-6 The wires run on the inside away from all the hot spots. Click on my Avatar to get a close look.

Good to know, John. My exhaust dumps straight down at the center too, so maybe I'll be okay. The first set of looms only cooked on the passenger side, during the 20 minute break-in, and I'm guessing that's because the fan turns toward the driver's side. I could barely feel any air flow when I walked to the passenger side, but a tornado on the driver's - coming out of the fan shroud.
