Re: I'm one of you guys now
are the tachs you neighbor has guaranteed to work?
I found a site online tachman.com I just emailed him to ask about mine, he immediately responded saying the circuit board is bad, he can replace it with a solid-state board with a 2 year warranty for $165 I asked him about a group rate.....

Re: I'm one of you guys now
it was in an email I got...thought it was fitting and hilarious Quote:
oh and you will need a lens that doesn't have a clock hole in it. all the other gauges are the same.

Re: I'm one of you guys now
well buddy i went to the largest pick n pull around looking for a tach cluster. no luck out of maybe 50-60 square bodies pretty well picked through today. same trucks there from last month. the was a fresh 90's burb there w/ a lot of custom stuff on it called starcraft i think... seen another truck w/ some clean chrome trim pieces but i was on a mission for something else!

Re: I'm one of you guys now
I love to just walk around and browse junk-yards
from my understanding and from reading on the internet, they quit making the in-cluster tach in 1981, and the ones before '80 were junk, so the 80-81 is highly sought after and sometimes sell on ebay for upwards of $450-$500 I need to find a bunch and get them fixed up and sell them...after we get one for John

Re: I'm one of you guys now
so your saying for me to be looking for a tach w/ the old style font is more or less a wild goose chase!
and the newer style is only avail. in 80-81?! they are different right? yea, that deal my neighbors dad has isnt sounding so bad now! we should get them and try to mate them and be millionaires

Re: I'm one of you guys now
dakota's the way to go mr. money! man if i had the funding for that she'd be getting something a whole lot bigger than a 5.3!
here's another my neighbor tells me... man if i had all your money i'd burn mine! seriously though, i like the look of the white autometer gauges that go right into the stock bezel. that would also be an easy fix for the digital speedo signal w/ my swap. probably end up being just a tad cheaper than the dakota.

Re: I'm one of you guys now
looking good buddy! good luck on your search for a cc... i see them on cl all the time and a few around the neighbor hood.
sounds like a great deal she gets a car you get a truck. we did that for a while but it was my 2 to her 1 and on the 4th time Amy finally put her foot down and said NO MORE!! and that is why i started working on my truck... next thing you know i dont have that urge to buy anything new again but i kept taking things apart on the truck until i realized "hey dummy your doing a frame off resto!"
