I have a 1968 C-10 Long fleetside with an Early Classic 4-6 drop and a front disc brake conversion. I am about to put in a 350/700R4 combo in the next month or so, and I need a little help with my wheel situation. I am currently running 235/75R15's front and back, and the fronts tend to rub the outer rear section of the inner fender when cornering. The current tires are 28.9 inches tall, and they are mounted on 15x8 Chevy 4WD truck rallyes with 4.5 inch backspacing. I know, I was stupid for not changing to five lugs when I had the chance...

My plan is to run a 275/60R15 in the back, I'm just not into the upsized flashy wheels, plus 15's will be cheaper to replace when I end up burning the tread off. I was leaning toward a 255/60R15 for the front to decrease the tire height without having so much a visual difference in size between the fronts and rears. With the front disc brake conversion the front wheels are now approximately 1 inch wider in track than the rear wheels, which is probably why they tend to rub more with these tires...

Here is my question(s).
-Are the 15x8 rallyes with 4.5 inch backspacing that I already have going to work with this tire combo?

-With such a wide tire in the back, should I get a wheel wider than 8 inches?

-Should I get a wheel for the fronts with a bit more backspacing than the 4.5 inchers? Maybe 4.75 or 5?

I am not interested in chrome wheels, aluminum wheels, or anything shiny for that matter. I'm sure all of the wheels I have cleaned up to this point in my life are going to give me arthritis anyways. My truck is a non-chrome truck from the factory, orange and a sort of off white grill and bumpers. I would like to carry that color into a nice set of painted wheels, and I'm sure I could get something nice from Wheel Vintiques, Rally America, or Stockton wheel. But to keep me from having to do that, would the current wheels I have do the job? There is a truck with similar colors on the ECE website at the top of the page, on the left, click link below.

I think a slightly less tall front tire would solve your problem. I'm running the same wheels and like them fine.

Sold it. Bought it back, dumped an ungodly amount of money into it since then.
